Proper job man.

Looks like some of the whale blubber oil has leaked or mummified and some water got in.

Take it apart clean it out and put a modern oil/grease of the correct viscosity back in with a new gasket.

Then forget about it for another 50 years

Cheers mate, after a good Google I think it should have 90 weight gear oil in it, as grease can be pushed around and leave gaps. problem is this will just leave out again, one idea is to mix similar oil and grease and hopefully it'll stay inside.

Nah, I don't want to be looking at that ugly thing every time I open the hood, this is a custom(empi) res that plug straight into the master, so no more leaky hoses and mess, hopefully.

That's the stuff rusty, so far so good, will see how it goes once back on the road.

update just of you 86, bodywork sucks!
