  2. This is my mk 2 that I have owned for about 20 years giving it a bit of a birthday and getting it back on the road[ Current Engine specs Head has been ported , group 1 valves & springs, cam is a crane 332b thats 332degres duration. Have tryed a few cams such as fr22 etc with not much difference between any of them, however once the 332b was fitted there was a masive jump in horse power & torque Inlet manifold is something I made about 15 years ago, been hacked around a bit in that time Turbo is a gready td67 on a new custom manifold & exhaust system Block is a 205 , rods are steel 5.5inch long with 92mm custom pistons 8:1, std crank, steel flywheel ,steel case celica 5 speed, toyota hilux 4.1 diff, 4 pot front & 2 pot rear calipers adjustable front on 400lb springs , heavy leaf in the rear This is a new untried engine/turbo set up & is going to speed source to have a ems stinger computer fitted, wired up , run in & then tunned. Old engine had same head, std length rods, custom pistons 6.5:1 comp, different exhaust manifold with a big t04 on 20 sometime 30 psi had 248kw at the rear on a dyno pac Finally got to the dyno this was on 25psi

  3. Ive been busy over the last couple of weeks prepping my sisters starlet for paint, and in the down time of that car, ive been building my carb manifold. bar forgetting to weld in a boss for the brake booster, i have finished and have them sitting in primer! im going to paint them lime green or something once i weld the threaded fitting in. i am VERY happy with how they turned out and i cant wait to get them in the car with the headers and get to tuning. i dont know how to make the photos smaller sorry.

  6. Took my engine into work and pulled the sump off. Look likes it's a clean engine which is always a good start. This is what the sump used to look like Cut the front off Got some alloy and mocked it up. Welded the new extension up,just got to tidy a few thing's then finish welding it up.

  14. Damn beaten ^^ . Yup that will do it , you should *generally* treat the torque converter like its part of the trans especially with an old seal .

  15. So this evening I donned my best Guinness t-shirt, pompom hat, gumboots and stroked my beard lovingly, then dug the landy out of the back yard. Took FOREVER to fire up, ran like balls, and was again backfiring back through the carb and generally couldn't keep the thing running. tweaked the dizzy round to retard the timing by about 30 degrees which smoothened it out, stopped the backfiring, makes it start and run like a champ. Very pleased I don't have to muck with futher tuning of carb etc. Will double check with timing light when I steamclean the block to get rid of concrete spec mud covering everything/tuniung by ear never did me wrong before. have removed the muffler which has blown to bits as it vents on the deck floor which maybe isn't ideal. will cut up workmate's scrap silvia sidepipe up and tack something together that'll sort that out and quieten it down a little.

  20. WOOHOO! Picked up my engine, Late model Spec R / With 6 speed tran will be converting to 5 speed most likey before i drop it in. Solves speedo drive issue + the 6 speeds can't handle much more than 300hp Very motivating opening the garage to see this, currently fixing the firewall / heater bowl section you can see the damage on my last post currently making up my own panels and welding them in All in all, Stoked

  25. get your favorite flat head screw driver, carefully undo the hose clamps on those air filters. remove filters, put clamps aside. then, proceed to throw the filters as far as you can, preferably in the direction of a large fire. tell martyn he just gained 20hp

  26. I grabbed this thing yesterday. Slammed spare carb on it, which leaves the linkages not working so well (don't match up and 90degree adaptor doesn't have the same stud pattern as new carb) Made up some mounts which utilise a Kubota throttle cable, and hook to the landrover linkage on the firewall on the carb side. Sorted the wiring out a bit as water had got to it a little and she fired up like a champ. Don't have choke hooked up but meh. warms up pretty quick. Need to waterblast engine so I can see timing marks and shit properly, and pull dizzy to bits and check points etc. carb seems to work nicely, but she's backfiring back through the carb at low revs. once on song it's lush though. Have burnt up all the old fuel and put 10 litres of fresh shit in and still seems to have the issue. Once that's sorted, and I give the brakes and clutch hydraulics a bit of a tickle, a maori wheel alignment and maybe look at swapping in a better set of front leaves if I can be arsed it'll be all over the place.dic SO lol to drive. couldn't get it stuck at the old man's place today (granted he lives on a completely flat bit of lands but there's a couple of drains and dirtpiles to play on) discuss //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/38706-campylobacters-campylandrover/

  27. Gave it a clean, it amazes me how your brain forgets the little thing over the years.. removing the dust revealed a 6/10 paint job, lots of little nicks, stone chips and a couple of pressure dings etc, still looks good but the fine tooth comb is more revealing.. some pics black interior, center console is def different from 78 model
