ajg193 Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Why do people put so much dynamat stuff on their cars? I've always been under the assumption that you only need a small amount of it, in the right spots, to kill the resonance of the panels. I guess a huge sheet of it could hold back the heat somewhat. tortron Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 About 1/3rd of a panel is what you want, it's diminishing returns after that. But more is always better right 1 1 Quote
ThePog Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Has anyone got any sweet hookups for Hardura or the like? I need a bit 1.4m wide by about 4m long in grey or black. This is enough to repattern all the inside of the Dynafari. I went to an upholsters yesterday but I was amazed at what they wanted for it, something like $750. If that is what it actually costs then ok, but it seemed very rich for some pvc and matting... Quote
bmxnz11 Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Anywhere local to buy kilmat or is Amazon the only way? Quote

Just ordered the 80mil pack, seems pretty reasonably priced. Will report back with findings. 4 Quote
bmxnz11 Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Have applied to the rear doors, front doors, firewall, part of the floor and roof of my van. 30 sheets of the 34 used up. Easy to apply and work with. Adhesion feels the part. Do people normally apply sound deadening under the dash area/bottom of the windscreen or is this a waste of time? 3 Quote
ul9601 Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 I looked up kilmat on the web and they seem all out of stock? Is it gonna be a permanent thing, if so what is the alternative go-to sound deadening? Quote

Bling Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 I got 4sqm of this stuff, but on a roll: https://themarket.com/nz/p/20pcs-car-truck-vibration-sound-deadening-mat-2.7mm-butyl-rubber-sound-deadeners/5110-BD-32298?siq=e7bb167e-e77d-46c0-be72-ba2cb416728f&sii=5110BD-32298&mode=io I haven't got around to using it yet, but put a small piece on my hydraulic press beam to see how well it stuck. Seemed to do ok. Certainly won't be the best on the market sticky wise, but it's thick for the price. Going to do it in next few months if you're not in a hurry I can report back if it's good / dogshit. I got it to do floor / kick space areas not roof, and will probably give it a light heat gun action due to installing when it will be cold. 1 Quote

Bling Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Yeah pretty cheap for the area covered. Fit my budget anyway. I'll try pull finger in the next month or two and install some and report back. 2 Quote

I'm in the market for some sound deadening and Amazon keeps telling me they wont ship to my address ? (because rural?) So the stuff you bought has me intrigued. 1 Quote
Bling Posted January 3 Posted January 3 @yoeddynz it's still in it's box I'm afraid. Odds I'll actually install it soon (ever?) are not great. Edit: holy shit that was a long time ago!! 2 Quote
Bling Posted January 3 Posted January 3 What's the stuff worth on Amazon? Unless you're so far in the wops the rural courier doesn't venture there, I could probably do it for $100 to your door (my courier will hate me at 18kg). Happy to have it sit there a few more years though, just if you want some and that's cheaper than Amazon then the offer is there. Unsure of pricing from the posts, but i'm pretty sure it was around that $100 mark, but "The Market" doesn't exist anymore so I can't look up orders. 1 Quote
yoeddynz Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Yeah go on.... I'm totally happy to extract you from your bitumas trap and allow you to run free again... Then I can do a review for all.... "So I received Blings 18kg of sound deadening from a very pissed off looking mailman. I then carefully layered it up on top of the fuel tank in the front of my imp and my god- this car has NEVER FUCKING HANDLED AS WELL AS THIS BEFORE!!! " 1 3 Quote
Bling Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Let me know an address and i'll slap a sticker on the box. I'll then spend the weekend saving up the energy to get it to my front door for a Monday surprise for courier. Courier on Monday "shit me, I thought delivering weeping gearbags to front doors was bad, this is a new level of punishment" 1 Quote
