cletus
Van went bye byes today, sadface.jpg I mucked around with springs a bit to raise it and fit some un modified bumpstops so it was all legit, first gen rav4 rear springs fit perfect and drop it halfway between stock, and where it was with the mystery springs in it. Went and picked up the chev again and put the new cam angle sensor in , no more fault code or check engine light, and runs better, yuss.
Popular Post cletus
The tape mark on the dash was from the boss being on 90 demerit points, he drove around for a year with the date on a piece of masking tape, when most of the points came back off his license haha 6
RUNAMUCK
I've been there. It's a dark, scary place. Longest two years of my life.
igor
Been up to 70 demerits back in the '80s when any speeding ticket was 35 whatever the speed. But that's enough of that.

Popular Post cletus
Have been collecting parts for slammage, got some new belltech spindles and 3" lower springs. Called into a workshop and a guy there had bought a C10 and wasn't going to use a lot of parts on it so I got some spring mount plates and axle flip brackets , and set of 15x8 factory earlier model steelies for $100 so that was a good score, gives me another wheel option, I'll get them powdercoated silver and hopefully the stock 98 center caps work I like this one , it has later model van center caps though
Popular Post cletus
And rummaged in my box of coilovers , I've got a plan to make some rear shocks for it The biggest problem with the usual axle flip (the diff housing gets put on top of the spring instead of underneath) is shock angles- they are on a big angle factory, then when it gets lowered 6 inches the shocks end up on stupid angles and dont do anything so the big lump of a diff flops around all over the place The best driving slammed ones, have the shock brackets moved to straighten them up, and decent shocks so they actually have some hope of controlling all the unsprung weight I've got 3 pairs of adjustable damping shocks with the same threads so I'll figure out the best length and make some top and bottom mounts
cletus
Ecom on pertol? No. Unsurprisingly. Checked its fuel consumption just as a matter of interest pre mods- 15.9L/100 around town and a bit of motorway Went to rotorua today with cruise control set at 100 most of the time, 14.35L/100 It came with a set of headers, so I'll put those on, should try a new thermostat because it seems to run a bit cool, and I should probably fit an electric fan as the engine driven viscous one takes a while to 'unlock' when it's cold Stay tuned for riveting updates on the subject 8
Popular Post cletus
Got wheels powdercoated, 235/60/15 front, 245/60/15 rear. Looks ridiculous now, lowering is required sooner than later. I think its actually got lifted springs in the front, they have eibach branding on them and its higher than other stock ones I've seen pics of I might go up a tyre size all round, if it doesnt rub when slammed 11
Popular Post cletus
Suspension partially done, 2" drop spindles, 3" lower springs in the front , and diff put on top of the springs in the back. I drew up a notch and got that laser cut, that's ready to pick up this week so next job is to whip the tray off and glue the notch in and make some shock mounts One of the front shocks fell apart when I took it out , that explains the rattle in the front suspension I'm not sure if the wheels will stay, one has started rusting already and its probably going to rub once the front bumpstops get a trim and the rear has some travel. So I'll probably put the stock wheels back on And waiting for some new front shocks I ordered a couple of weeks ago but I think covid has slowed that down 55

Popular Post cletus
Notch kit ready to fit I drew it on some cardboard and got it laser cut from 4mm and the top and bottom folded If my measurements are right it should fit under the tray floor with 1x tray crossmember removed , retains 100mm chassis rail height, and 40mm suspension travel before it contacts the bump stops so it meets all the cert minimum requirements The outers are drilled for plug welds and the inners have a big fish mouth to help the transition from floppy channel chassis to box. I did those bits myself cause I figured it was easier than trying to explain to the laser cutting guy what I wanted
Popular Post cletus
Got tyres swapped back onto the original wheels, rolled the guard lips , removed the bed, waterblasted a bunch of pukekohe off the chassis , notch tomorrow I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was, everything came off without a fight
