The big opening can be closed up with the hinged wall, still heaps to do like build the bar, fit small tv, sound system, line the rest of the walls and screw weird and wonderful quirky  shit to the walls

After picking up this old stereogram chassis from the bin im feeling very pleased with myself today that i  successfully remove all the radio parts and put a new plug with killing myself 

and these old rola speakers sound great as they sit ,mids and highs awesome,  low frequency not so much,

Ruined a nice period piece of furniture these last few weeks

 

Ebonised the drawers with a solution of strong black tea, and steelwool dissolved in vinegar

 

Then sanded, and bleached the original stain out with lye and then hydrogen peroxide. Really wanted to avoid the orange/golden tone of the oak showing through. So whitewashed it all with some bone white to match our window frames

Managed this over the last couple of weekends, was a bit of punishment.

 

Took 3 of 6 goes to get the rolling right as usual, the re-roll/bounce on the wronguns.

I reckon thats pretty convincing.

I found a man in chch who will make a pvc cover from old billboard material for a pretty reasonable amount of money, that should do the trick.

Tiki bar getting there, lined most of it and well over cutting apart pallets etc. Oiled it all before going up and pretty much the look I was thinking.

Small tv connected to Wi-Fi, the old home theater receiver from the house set up even has blue tooth.

Stoked with the bifold window shutters and carb spot light for dart board.

Using the leftovers of the drawers, I made a tiny oak desk and drawer. 

Not sure how I'm gona finish it, but kid is gona scribble all over it anyways. 

Used up my collection of vintage screws too, so it's indistinguishable from one built in the 40s

3 size stool. 2 chair heights and the bigger stool. Gives a few years of growing hopefully

The wife and I wanted to make the kids bunk beds for their birthdays this year. Didnt really have to much of a plan on how to make them watched one youtube video got the general idea and got to work.  Middle of last year we removed an old spray booth from our factory but kept the timber. Which worked out perfectly. I ripped it down to size put it through the thicknesser and it came out better than expected. It was a great project for the family got the kids involved and learnt heaps.

First photo is timber before going through the thicknesser.

we ended up moving the ladder. not enough space to climb up.

I painted all the parts in polyurethane as thats what I do for a job.

The gap between the beds is a 1m but we wanted to future proof ourselves hopefully get more than 10 years out of them.

Of course we had make one for each kid. This one slightly different as we removed her wardrobe when we did the renovations to fit the fridge in the new kitchen so we incorporated the wardrobe into the bunk bed.

Made this tool

to screw in the hook

to hold the dremel

to trim this bracket

for on the backboard

to hold this tape measure

so I could measure the holes for this handle for my under bench tray

It's so important to have an efficient work-space!

I made a table/ desk out of a couple of slabs of Norfolk pine. 

Planed about 15mm off the faces and sanded it.  First with the belt sander then up to 240 with the orbital. 

I've just put the first coat of Danish oil on it 

Haven't done the legs yet,  I'll take them off and do them in a more back friendly position.

Is my first pair of Open Baffle speakers

And this morning was a very basic router table that works a treat ,

 

Also Speakers sound awesome

I needed all the length I could get. 

The desk is for both of us to work at so it needs to be as long as it can. 

I cut the slabs at the longest I could fit in the van and that dictated what lengths I had to work with.

 AD4200 i pulled from a 1960 stereo cabinet . 

Also made other pair yesterday with some smaller Philips AD3800

how are you sizing the baffles?

my understanding was that they had to be equidistant from the speaker edge all round and a whole bunch bigger than what you've got there?
