NickJ Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Cheers mate, The car has a bit of history, so repainting any other colour was a no go, managed to find the original paint code and mixed to suit, also had the decals measured and copied, pretty stoked with the result! Quote
Willdat? Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/other/auction-168995952.htm Almost a sister vehicle - only been on Trademe since 20008 with 112,000 auction/advert views.... Quote

Testament Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 yeah lol that yellow one has been on TM forever! I've never had to buy one of those rubber hoses, but I doubt they are cripplingly expensive. Give Gavin at Euro italian in auckland a ring or Mal at dino enterprises in cambridge. otherwise trawl ebay/google theres alot of stuff out there since they made millions of these engines for 35 years in various guises. it's often just a matter of finding the right keyword/what the italians/british/germans or americans call whatever it is. azzurro Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 nice, a twink should help you get stuck that much faster i got one of those wee hoses from Mal for my 2l, it was a bit more than i thought was reasonable (i think $30ish incl postage - will check) but genuine, and i needed it NOW. I think it is called "PCV Hose, Short" or ' Engine Vent Hose' and there are a few sizes (in and out diameter) depending on your block. Like tom said plenty of engine parts around, plenty of performance improvements can be done and most parts are cheap, even in nz Quote
NickJ Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Pretty sure that guy is going for the longest listing on trademe, price has always been just too high for what it is, but I'm sure it will sell, I brought this one for less than a grand, the last few on TM have gone for over, another 10-20 years and it will be worth 4k Yip, Mal is my main contact for parts, although I think he may be a robot, very quick to reply to emails, knowledgeable and shipping is way too quick for a one man show. Its just a basic thing I thought there might be another solution? I cracked it taking it off and being that i've replaced all the gaskets and seals to stop oil leaks I'd rather replace it now. Quote
locost_bryan Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Always liked the Niva, looks great with those stripes . Nice clean styling, without the mini-Jeep look of the Samurai (not that there's anything wrong with them ). The FIAT Twincam was certainly a long-lived unit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Twin_Cam_engine - wonder how many were made over those 30+ years? Quote

With so many bits and pieces needed I don't want to email Mal every 5 min for a price, then find an alternative, if I ask smaller suppliers for a price its more of a formality, and I intend to follow through with a purchase, I appreciate the specialist knowledge and don't want to waste too much of their time. flyingbrick Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Agree with others.. Paint job is perfect for it! Quote
SP450andLE Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I have a weber and some sort of manifold to fit a 2l twin cam if you're interested? It's just sitting round seeing as we decided to go down the fuel injection route for our Lada (which is this one: http://ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/cloggy/fiva1.html) Quote
NickJ Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Quite possibly, I have a pair of drla downdrafts ready to go but its still unknown how well they will run, my current carb has worn around the shafts so idle is inconsistent which brought on the replacement, i'll keep it in mind if I have troubles! So you have cloggy's niva? his build helped me set mine up originally, good to see its still alive, whats the plan with FI? I was going to give that a hoon but the cert plate is for carbs, would be interested how much efficiency can be tuned. Quote
SP450andLE Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Well at the moment we're still struggling to get it running right. It seems to be massively overfueling and just flooding continually. So it's now a matter of trial and error I guess haha Quote
NickJ Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Is it a standard system or something a little more exotic, I've never really looked to see if there is a bolt in option? Quote
SP450andLE Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 It's a factory one from some form of Fiat as far as I know Quote
azzurro Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 http://www.midwest-bayless.com/storefrontprofiles/DeluxeSFItemDetail.aspx?sid=1&sfid=208227&c=192675&i=310566604 the housing comes in a few flavours (different angles and number of tapped holes for sensors depending on fwd/rwd and age) but they all have the same bolt holes/gaskets im pretty sure, 2l may be different? the one in that link doesnt say for 2l, but im pretty sure i swapped the one from my old 1608 onto my 1995 Quote
