I don't suppose there are too many Nivas being wrecked for parts in NZ... Quote
NickJ Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 A brand new transfer case can be brought from Russia from around $500 usd + freight, keep an eye on TM or ask in the Lada Niva New Zealand facebook page, there are still plenty out there, just gotta find them. 1 Quote
NickJ Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 Also, got any further plans/details for your electric car? Quote

Good to know but probably not worth getting a new one, as I plan to chop the box to remove the front drive output. As for the EV, not much going on yet - still in the research stage. Got the motor out out of R32 Skyline (thanks @chris r & @piazzanoob for the engine hoist) and wondering if I can ditch the gearbox as well (hence the transfer box question). Haven't done the build thread as 1) R32 doesn't really qualify as an oldschool, 2) I really haven't done much and 3) I'm a terrible procrastinator, so yeah... Quote

Good to see it getting such a detailed makeover 🙂 I looked at repower options 6 years ago, all options were at or above the cost of a new truck, worst of all with diesel conversions is we never had that as an option so readily available final drive ratios are terrible for open road. Looking forward to leaving it with all the quirks intact and driving it hard(ish) 1 1 Quote
yoeddynz Posted January 15 Posted January 15 You were going to inject it using speeduino ecu at one point? (because you gifted me some spare components) That would be cool. Plus itbs, plus 4 little ramflo filters. Quote
NickJ Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 Yeah, still have all the injection gear for it, lost steam when I got the datsun and decided that was the better place for it, then realised I preferred the datsun in a more original state. Building the efi back into the car wasn’t on my radar until you brought it up now, hmmm 1 Quote

Got a mate from uni who loves to remind me of this everytime I hint at tackling any panelbeating, painfully truthful. Started cleaning up the back and found a dent hiding under the thick layer of dust under the boot liner Thats odd how have I never noticed that? yep, there it is, under the fresh coat of underseal too 1 1 Quote
