yoeddynz
Wicked little campers those things but man the novelty would wear thin when your over 6' tall. Was it an import this one getting done up?
maxted
haha yeah it would wear off quick, not sure if its an import or not
h4nd
Love the idea of leaving it rat, except maybe bling the wheels / bumpers / body chrome? For the juxtaposition.

Mr.Mk1
Decent A15 would be $300-500, 5-speed the same

kyteler
A15s are creeping higher than that lately aren't they?
yoeddynz
Does a 5 speed bolt onto an a15?
grant76
yeah the 5 speeds came out in datsun b310 sunnys so are behind a14's and a15's. $300-500 is still the going price of box and engine (seperately) as mentioned above. A15's came out in c20 and some c22 nissan vanettes as well but the 5 speeds in these are different to the car gearboxes
kyteler
Does a 5 speed bolt onto an a15? Â If I get my Sunny back on the road before you start on this you can take it for a hoon some time (if you're around here or me there) to feel the big block A15 power w/ 5speed. Â It's pretty sweet really.
yoeddynz
Yeah I reckon for a sweet cheap easy install it would be hard to beat. Plus wont look out of place wof time. I will start looking. I noticed some boxes are dogleg first- are those van ones?
RUNAMUCK
Nah, they were the round headlight sunny boxes. mostly found in A14 powered coupes. (140Y, 1400sgx)
RUNAMUCK
If I were doing it all over again, I would straight up graft a C20 Van bellhousing onto a 63 series L series box. All you would need is a lathe, a mill, and a someone who is a Ninja at tig welding aluminuim. A few years back a guy stuck an A series bellhouisng onto an S15 6 speed box. Overkill if you ask me. That would be me except for the Ninja bit. But I can sort of fuse lumps of alloy together. Anyway- why all this^ ? whats so good about L series boxes?  All I want is a cheap but jappa engine that looks the part so easy at wof time. Was only thinking 5 speed for extra efficiency. It will only stay like this until I have more time to fit a Saab donk. So maybe I should fuss too much over trying to get a 5 speed box.  Is it worth paying any extra for an A15 over an A 14? Which are more common?
kyteler
Even an A12 and a 4speeder would be fine if it's only relatively temporary brah.

yoeddynz
Cool. Yeah I have that photo stashed. Remember the ex race car I bought.. the yellow one. It had arches a bit like that. Geoff now has it. I found a suitable engine for either the viva or Hannahs trump wag... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-852332988.htm
