Seedy Al
hey guys was just wondering if anyone knew of any sort of brake upgrade at would suit a datsun 1200 truck, with a 4age turbo in it, that would fit 13's haha I have maybe decided to keep my truck, and need to start sorting out the basics, that first being getting rid of the series 5 rx7 brakes that will never fit my 13's and getting something that will So anyone know of any good ideas, or how easy it is to chenge the whole strut to something else? Mainly looking for something vented. cheers ladies any help would be most awesome Seedy Al
kyteler
Maybe check with Kelvin? Didn't he do something you could still run small rims on? Or was it that green/going to be grey E7 rolla? I forget. Someone on here has done it though. AP racing calipers on tiny vented discs, IIRC.
Chris.QCR
Im using 280zx struts and brakes and they fit nicely under 13s. Im sure someone else will sell you a pitch on s13 brakes too.
Seedy Al
did you have to shorten your struts or anything for sweet slam? and do they bolt on to the steering knuckle or did you have to change those also? hearts
sr1600
Have some r31 front hubs and brakes & could the mazda could use a brake upgrade. In all seriousness 280zx hubs are the ones to get as they allow for mega offset compared to the similar nissan struts r31 , 910 etc Only down side is the large centrebore on them. Beaver
s13 disks and calipers are a common upgrade (require an adaptor plate, there is actually a dude selling them on trademe at the mo). There is a how to on the datsun forum, ill try dig it out. Basically just need to slightly machine the hub down so the s13 disk slips over. here it is http://www.nzdatsun.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=558 some of the pics dont work anymore (bloody simpson) and you will have to log in to the the ones that do. grant76
a lot of 13's dont fit with the s13 upgrade, and it pushes the track out roughly 10mm per side (dont know if thats an issue or not). Is quite an effective upgrade though

Chris.QCR
Hey Seedy. I shortned my struts 50mm. Fitted a coilover kit and got decent slam. x member is 70mm off the ground. Plus the bonus with 280zx struts is B310 bottom arms steering arms castors rods bolt up.Plus use PB310 balljoints for a little added camber. Oh and im using ST141 Celice inserts. mjrstar
I am a bit of a fan of suitably large brakes, are you sure you will get enough braking capacity for the pace the ute will be able to pile on with the turbo 4ag( not taking the piss), with any brake combo which is packaged under 13'' wheels. / not very helpful
Snoozin
There's a joker called Peter Hooper who runs a KP61 around these parts, with Wilwood Dynalites and decent sized vented rotors lurking beneath 13" wheels. It's not a slow car, runs some quick times at Hampton Downs with a 5K but it is a light car so I guess this also has some bearing on the brake size to stopping power in a given car. If that makes sense. I've got some info that might be handy, let's talk brakes this weekend.
Brock-Lee
s13 single pots fit under 13s easy/ both the ssr's and advans I tested fit, you will need to run a ~10mm spacer to clear the caliper unless the wheels you have have a gigantic x factor. Unless you go to a full tap coilover/ like BC's etc you will struggle to get good inserts to fit the small 1200 strut housing though without going fancy pants custom/$$
Snoozin
Are they the same diameter as a KP? If so, Mk1 Golf is the same and there's some good options. WRT to brakes, my impending setup can run wheels with 0 x factor and not clash with spokes. Inner wheel weights are a problem however. Brock-Lee
if KP is the same as early ke70 then yes The mk1 shocks are quite long if you want mega slam IIRC The shortest factory ones I found were n13? pulsar and even those are too long. Not to say there arent bettr options but I stopped looking etc.
SHGWAG
OSC used AE101/111 Corolla brakes on his 4A-GTE Mk2 Escort Estate. Can hit him up if you're interested? Probably one of the cheapest options. My brother used U13 Bludbird Zenolli rotors and SW20 calipers on his ke25, unsure if he could fit 13s over them, fit 15s fine though. JoKer
seeing as you already have RX7 bits : series1 stuff? is same as what they use in the pro7 race series : they are limited to 13" rims too perhaps pm arcatype

Do i need to change my lower arms to b310 stuff to run? and if so, what else? caster rods? And Born boozer are you saying that the 280z struts are more inset than 910 etc? was just wondering as I see my old coil overs I made for my 910 are on trade me listed with Hemis old wagon..... Chris.QCR
Yeah if your onto the 280z struts you will need B310 sunny bottom arms and castor rods.Sounds like Brendan(mint16) has you covered there. Im sure your 910 coilovers would work on your 280z struts. I think they are the same diameter body.
