kicker
Hi all What's the best/tidiest way of drilling large holes (26mm) in a guard? I'm going to install some fender mirrors so looking for the best way to do it. I have a 26mm hole saw but would a stepped bit be better? Beaver
I would say yes to a stepped bit/reamer type thingy. would fucking suck if you fucked up with a hole saw
Ned
Plus hole saws never cut correctly anyway haha. You could drill a small hole and use a nibbler if you have one? unsure of the best/correct way TBH
kicker
Yeah was unkeen to use a hole saw, especially handheld, they like to chew shit out when they grab. I could also use a dremel I guess
Goat
10mm hole. + tin snips (some pointy ones)
Unclejake
A 26mm chassis punch would be better IMHO

BlownCorona
chassis punches are so awesome, but i dont actually know how much they cost. might be able to rent one from your local engineer for a box of beer on a friday/saturday?

JoKer
reckon ya be sweet with hole saw and some lube, practice on a spare guard/car on the road?
Gaz
Chassis punch price depends on size. I have a few will see if I have a 26mm. Gaz

flyingbrick
holesaw. just use a decent one that's made to cut metal not wood.
eke_zetec_RWD
if your real worried cover guard in masking tape and clamp a bit of mdf or ply wood where your drilling the hole. then hole saw through the wood into the steel. will hold it mint and if you fuck it up it cant skate accross your paint job. BlownCorona
that trick with the wood is actualy really clever tbh
bubblegoose
interesting re wood on top, i put the wood on the back to stop the drill grabbing when it breaks though double wood it for extra safety?
