KKtrips
Yeah my pile of iron was surprisingly small and was expecting a second delivery. But nope it was enough.
Chickity
Oh look, I did stuff! The weird light patches in the middle of the wall are reflections off the car out of shot to the right. That hideous fibrolite patch thing between the windows will be removed and replaced with weatherboards in the same colour as the rest of the house asap. And the nasty broken baseboards will all be replaced with the same wooden palings as seen in the bottom of pic 2, hopefully in the next week or so. They'll eventually be stained to match the new roof (charcoal) but will improve the general look immediately regardless. Then it's just a case of painting out the hideous green fascia behind the gutter (white - to be done at the same time as the soffit over the next month or so of after work paint slinging) and all of the 1970s will be banished from the property. Excellent.
Bling
Any pics of the brand spankers roof? Paint looks good, amazing what a fresh coat can do.
Chickity
Not yet. But shall request one be taken today. Took forever to get finished. Man roofers are hard work. It's a pretty small roof, but we had to make them take a couple of the bits off again and redo the wood underneath, because even though they said they'd replace the rotten bits they just laid the new iron over the top. Someone also forgot to order the valley piece, so we've ended up with a painted galv version. It was cheap at least. But still. Urg.
kyteler
Looks mint. Puhuhuuhuh. My brother got some more painting done on my place recently so I think roughly 1/5th of the outside is now the correct colour. Stink buzz about the roof shenanigans.
durty
Oooh, I like the look of the palings instead of baseboards, might need to steal that idea as we have shitty broken baseboards as well
Chickity
This is when they were first done early last year, because finishing things isn't our strong point... Will look primo when the whole house is done though.
The Bronze
Palings idea is great. Looks mint. Am also stealing that idea.
kyteler
I would have put a greater space in between the palings or alternatively installed some vent sections. House needs to breathe, brah. Also, that last shot makes it look like the house has buck teeth. HERPDERP.
Chickity
There's actually quite a big gap between the boards, just a bit hard to see in the shot. We tried using the boards themselves as spacers, but the huge gaps looked ridiculous. ...no buck teeth. They're essentially vertical as just stuck to the existing board supports. Didn't go all villa skirt on it or anything silly like that.

j.e.d.
Great job you guy's are doing there Fence palings if butt joined will dry & shrink giving you a gap between them (maybe not big enough though). So if you nail them with a 5mm gap, that'll probably increase to maybe 10mm when they're all dried up (you probably already knew this haha)
EURON8
The pailings were spaced 6 odd mm. I think. Opened up nicely since. The gaps between pailings are far greater on a whole than the old vents in the board. Here's the roof

Chickity
That's the garden shed. It's going. When the new garage goes in the backyard access will be between it and the house, which is currently where the back of the shed is...
EURON8
whats your little add-on with cowl attaching rear wall? Hah, actually looks odd. You see the chimney go between the 2 but then it doesn't pop out the top anymore.
