Anyone know how to remove the gauge cluster from the dash? Do I have to take the entire dash out?

nah it just pops out but its not very easy and I've never been able to get mine to "pop" back in

I have a little old school tacho, and the clock doesnt go in the dash (mind you, might be a simple wiring issue), so was going to have a look and see how easy it would be to mount the tacho in the cluster

Two little clips/tags hold it at bottom- try sliding a butter knife in between dash cluster and dash to unclip them.

so, what are your plans to repower this with? i've raced against one of these with an FJ20et at ruapuna a few times. I smoked him once, and then he got his launched dialed and owned me repeatedly.

haha no plans yet. The guy im pickign the parts car from tomoro has a sedan with a a5 in it, and he only wants the engine, so i will see if hes willing to part ways with the engine and gbox mounnts and what not that would be needed in a conversion. I wont be doing anything outrageous, its nice having something thats fucking cheap to run haha

do you mean an A15? if so the mounts would work for an A12 straight bolt in. You can get sweet running A12's for piss money, and even a smoked A12 would own a 1265. (even with one plug wire pulled off)

In a heavier shell like a shove-it (well, they're heay compared to a datsun 1200) you'll go better with the 56a four speed. They have a shorter 2nd gear which is a bit less of a jump from 1st. So they pull a bit harder down low.

you could take 40mm out of the bumpstop tower and make it lower than brads

long story short, no.

He didnt have the sedan there when i went to pickup the hatch, but he is going to get in touch with me when he rips the engine out, so it may still be on the cards.

Then you'll be able to replace the fail-tastic 1256 with an infinitely superior Datsmo powerplant. The best part being with a few small mods you'l be able to smoke mr CUL8ers G200-a-fied shove-it.

yeh nah im in constant email contact with the dude so that he knows im keen. the mighyt 1256 puts out a massive 42hp where a stock a15 is 80-90 odd hp or something so itl be a huge improvement straight off the bat

Not a fan of the dark coloured steels at all. Just straight, clean silver rules for me.

Yeh I'm thinking silver will be the go. I was thinking the black would offset the chrome hubcaps nicely but nah, it looks wired

Black sorta hides that they have been widened and also gives off the whole stock car vibe. Silver for me too

nah but seriously, i am planning on going quite low. hopefully the tyres will clear the guards, as im rolling much more ballon spec than brad (and unless i win lotto thats not going to change haha). elite said the wheels should be done before the weekend, which actually means next week....

You'll definitely have to keep your eyes peeled for a cheap A15. They're getting more expensive by the day.
