vid of said induction noise now please?

That would probably turn into a vid of wind noise.. but I might give it a go. Or go for an exhaust cam similar to parts of this tongue-in-cheek video I did: http://picasaweb.google.com/oldschool.co.nz/Misc#5286573930582086034

Exhaust cam would help me identify the occasional smoke cloud I've noticed when launching the mighty Rover away from the lights.... I wanna know whether the smoke's blue or black.

Did they make an SD1 coupe?

Nope. But if you think the Tomcat is an abomination, what British Leyland's Specialist Division did make is prototypes for an SD1 wagon:

and for the SD2:

The SD1 in Bullitt's photoshop looks good in red and with those wheels. 8)

Mine, meanwhile, is still going. I've removed the sagging bonnet lining for weight reduction / because it kept rubbing on my shiny new red plug leads and making them dirty. Unfortunately it has left ugly patches where the previous owner used glue to try to hold it on:

Also, the 'red' exhaust header paint I used seems to be being disdainfully turned to ash by that blazing furnace of fury, the mighty Rover six:

That's an old photo, more of it is white now after tearing up the highways over summer. Why did this happen / how can I avoid it if I can be bothered painting the headers again?

I think its just down to the quality of the paint. When my exhaust was first done it was painted in some kind of crappy paint that came off almost instantly, to turn the normal rusty colour you see on most exhausts. I repainted the headers in another average quality paint for a car show, expecting it to be a temporary solution to the problem and do the same, but so far it has held up well to a track day and about 1000km of motoring.

Was just a can of high temp paint in flat black, off the shelf from Super Cheap. I'm not sure whether I'd recommend it, being that I haven't done huge miles with it, and I don't think it came in much of a range of colours, white/cream, grey and black if that.

That's all my red paint was - a can off the shelf from SuperCheap. I certainly haven't done huge miles - can't even have been three tanks of fuel yet. Maybe black just works better.

The black put on my Alfa's exhaust by the last exhaust shop has mostly come off now, but at least it had the decency to fall off rather than stay on and turn all white.

Congratulations Mr Thousand Dollar Supercar, You're explorations are on my top sites now bro - well done with your getting to know the fab sd1 - you're ready for the brotherhood now. Y'know it's a disease for which there is no cure don't you? Down here in Nelson, I've got a 2.6, a Vitesse, a p6b S and 3 P6B's and still want more. Maybe I need a counsellor - oh shucks, I am one. Ah well, nothing a can of stop rust can't fix, if you know what I mean. Keep up the postings - it's been fun watching your discoveries. If I figure out how to put photos on this thing, I might be able to help - me n SD1 go back a long way.
