fuel
haha yeah totally agree with Jase, get some mandrel bends in there - heck even press bends would be better.
kyteler
It's hardly a time-attack car, that exhaust will be fine.
Jase
progress is progress even if its wrong? i guess my progress has been wrong for years (in some minds). i would shoot to an exhaust shop and get them to make the bends up to suit, weld it to a bench cut out your mitre joints and weld the bends back in. karmagedon
I have some old bends chilling around the place, however for time sake i just used mitre's. But as KY said, in all honesty I dont think it will make THAT much difference. Maybe upto 3 topend HP. The header cost $360 from wolf I believe it was. In regards to the paint, its duplicolour high heat ceramic shtuff, so is ment to be used on headers. However wolf painted there stuff black (as can be seen in smashed pipe pic) and I thought nothing of it. Turns out it's just regular paint and flaked of causing silver to flake off aswell. Is a mess now. Will prob never buy something from wolf again.
Jase
for times sake? man i would have used that argument to run a straight pipe and no mufflers, rather than have to cut mitres out and fix it with bends, might as well throw cast manifolds back on it... take an extra hour to save 2 mentality
fuel
you may as well have just used a factory cast manifold instead of headers with those mitre bends in the exhaust.
karmagedon
what's with all the gripe?? It should still flow better than a single baffled exhaust. and I was keen to use a factory one (wich is mild steel, not cast) until I found out they cost $460 new. Hence wolf one was cheaper. (the flow quality if the woolf one is also not THAT great. about on par with factory by inspection)
xsspeed
Surprised at that re quality from woolf. So you had clash issue with the pipe hence bashing it to fit?
karmagedon
Yea it fouled with the left side of the subframe. Even bashing it to half the pipe diameter it was still fouling, that was why i decided it would just be easier to make a new one. The old exhaust was 2.5" and this pipe is 2"
Snoozin
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 438317.htm Why not something like that, even though it's a cheapie it looks infinitely better designed than the Woolf item which has stupid short primaries. Yowzer
Your methodology confuzzles me.. Would a side exit 3" behind the front wheel not suffice? EDIT http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Mazda/Other/auction-322438317.htmWhy not something like that, even though it's a cheapie it looks infinitely better designed than the Woolf item which has stupid short primaries. I'd fully roll similar to that on some 4cyl car if I owned a 4cyl car that was worthy of such sweet looking cheap headers
treggo
What I am is most surprised at is you spend 360 on headers, but are happy not to reap the benefits of getting them just for times sake.. The mind boggles
kyteler
Looks to me like he got replacement headers, not performance headers.
Bombsquad
Saw this again today, you really just cant help yourself when it comes to rdiculous tailpipes can you, that current ones gonna bruise a few shins
karmagedon
So after waiting a few months for shit to arrive from the states, here it is as of now. although still too high in the front, and the rear needs more camber or spacers + flares.
Beaver
the rear needs more camber and less baloon spec tyres, and the front needs less baloon spec tyres and more low
kyteler
Mean. Pump/stretch those guards out with a guard roller/get a panelbeater to do it. Ignore the tires comment, flat sided semi slicks look the tits.
Simon
That's better bro! Paint the roof black? Yes, balloon tyres are ok if they are semis.
kyteler
Oh, and dial some camber in at the front. That's where you need your camber. Edit: Roof red. SAY NO TO BLACK ROOFS!
karmagedon
They are 205/50 and I got them for $100 so pretty stoked with them. saving up for some T1R's in 205/40 or 195/45 aswell. The plan is to paint the roof black, however, money is key and I have none, so not for a while.
