I've joined the group and messaged him yesterday. No seat. And I think a 66 seat might be different.

I'm buying one from a wreckers in Arizona. They're pretty punishing to deal with, but at least they reply to the emails. They must only check their emails in the morning though, as its 24 hours to get a reply, which is pretty painful when I'm in a bit of a hurry with it.

Bench seat or bust!

I managed to get one from a place called Desert Valley Auto Parts in Arizona. It came with a warning that it would only be good for recovering as desert cars come with sun-fucked interiors.

Still no ETA on the car but that’s as much my fault as anyone’s at this point with sorting all the parts. I’m not in any hurry.

hey chap, any updates yet?

The ship arrived on the 27th of December.

Still waiting for it to clear customs... I'm checking my emails every 5 minutes. Surely it must be nearly ready!!!

I've re-arranged all the cabinetry in my garage to gain the extra 50mm of length I need to fit it in the shed. And then my caravan has thrown up its interior, so when it does finally arrive, I am going to be in a real space crisis.

know that feeling well, and it blows. nothing like a time crunch to speed up Georges repairs to help motivate things.  my barge is 6m long and honestly i consider selling it, like weekly and going back to an rx to aleviate so many storage issues.

hope it gets outta customs in a timely manner for you though.

Yep, Luckily my wife is quite excited about the caravan reno, as she was with painting the exterior, which means its easy to get time to spend on it.

I was hoping to get the wagon on the road in time for Americarna, but I think that will be extremely unlikely now, especially with the caravan focus.

hopefully if its the basics, brakes, steering components, bushes, fluids, it shouldn't be too labour intensive to get it legal providing they dont find too much wrong with it, not needing anything for a cert is it?    was the plan to just get it legal or was it needing things done like interior / bodywork?

u still got a month and a half.. you be right!

Fingers crossed it won't need much to get on the road.

I've got new shocks, brake shoes, etc and all the bushings I could find on Rock-auto coming over with it.

Hopefully with fresh gas, a battery, fluids and a carb kit it will be a runner...

while you are doing the shoes, whack some new wheel cylinders in for peace of mind motoring, and it probably wont hurt to do the handbrake cables while you are there fucking with it all.

not that its handbrake is  important as auto - park does the work but they test during wof and nothing worse than a sticky cable.

This thing is awesome. 3rd row seat is a bonus for sure. Can’t wait to see this at Wagnats in a couple weeks with some random number plates on it.

@Bistro has done patina preservation on his rigs.

Rather than rubbing the rust off with scotchbrite i wonder if removing the corrosion chemically with rust remover would be better? Obviously wash it all off once the job's done

Seems to me rust killer would preserve the surface better

You'll probly have to paint it on and wash off numerous times

Tergo Rust Killer or similar

Looks like it has enough paint that you could get a clear to stick

have not tried the rust killer approach on exterior panels, but everything I have done with rust killer has turned the rust to black and then that is what you get. So unsure if that is the look you would be after

The Chev I hit with the scotch pad with a diluted CLR mix. Objective was to clean up the paint oxidisation and rust streaks. There is one door I didnt do - you'll have to check it out at wagnats. The roof was mainly surface rust so did the same, but it really needs something to protect it

The Buick was heavily patina'd. I did scotch pad with a diluted CLR mix and coated it with Carboline RIPO oil. Soaks in to the non paint sections, brings out the depth of the colour (and adds a bit of gloss) and most of all makes the water bead. I'm sure I'll be due to do it again. I have some in stock if you want to try it out.

KE26 I used Morris Ankor wax - it never quite tacks off soo gathers lots of dust and finger prints. Would like to take it all off and try the RIPO oil

I'll have to get some pics
