I sketched this up a while ago. 160 km day 1, 180 km day 2, 90 km day 3.

Plenty of gravel. Haven't looked into accom options at all.

Here's the one I sketched up:

Day 1 - New Plymouth to Te Kuiti 241km

Day 2 - Waitomo Loop 234km

Day 3 - Te Kuiti Return 230km

I was thinking Te kuiti for accomodation as Pio Pio has next door to nothing.

This looks like a solid mission!

Remember that time in 2022 when the East Cape tried to drown us, then wreck itself well and proper in 2023.

Its doing the same stuff.

Here's the Hicks bay store/playground where we got pies and did twist and go drag races

Slip over the road and into the back of the Hicks Bay Motel.

The entrance to Bills TeAraroa Holiday Park (hard left over bridge, note horse still horsing around far right, the east cape spirit will not be dampened)

May be an image of road

Wow, we were just there a few weeks back! Stopped at that public toilets at Hicks Bay, such a sweet spot/playground, clearly well maintained by the locals, so gutting.
