Also invaluable is a good depinning tool

You can buy some but I've got a piece of piano wire that's sharpened at one end, with a little handle on the other and it's brilliant.

Sometimes a bit tricky to see how plugs come apart until you've done a few

Mine is one of those WTF does this even fit super skinny allen keys ground to a long chisel tip. I found that it works better than wire because it's stiff and won't easily bend.

If anyone has links to part numbers for common OEM connector terminals, that would be super handy.

I know you can get them from places like RS components, but it's often hard to identify them from the one image they show you.

be wary of chinese terminals on anything critical, have seen it several times after a couple cycles plugging in they lose tension and end up with bad contact as they are made of way thinner material than genuine ones, can really notice the difference with the Chinese LS looms from VPW and aeroflow  vs OEM even the connector bodies are made of sub par plastic and cant handle the heat of an engine bay and go real brittle, the old saying you get what you pay for,

common terminals are pretty easy to  ID, GM  its all generally Delphi/Aptiv  metripack 150/150.2 or GT150, most japanese stuff is sumitomo, can generally  figure out parts crossover to RS from ballenger, waytek, eficonnection or nzefi listings

BUMP.

Not worth starting a new thread but I have to re-wire a couple of cars. Namely a series landy and a 67 econoline.

I'm not a fan of those wiring kits although I did enjoy using the American Auto Wire model specific one for my Chev. It was rather pricey however.

Does anybody know where I can get bulk wiring for cheap? I like the look and feel of the SXL wiring and the last one I got was from Amazon here.

Does anybody know where I can get it in bulk for cheap? Temu? Ali Baba? Jaycar?

I use this as my fuse/relay block seeing as I'm lucky to even have a heater fan let alone a stereo. I don't need much.

Nice link, gives me an idea to ditch all 10!! of the glass fuses in the falcon.

Don't you enjoy reaching under there and giving the glass fuses a gentle rub between the fingers to get it going?  8)

Thread revival, have decided based on other reading milspec bulkhead connectors aren't worth the effort/cost and to just have a grommet I can pull loom plugs through etc

However been thinking about injector/coil looms that can be detached from the main engine loom

Does anyone have a recommendation on a male/female plug kit with pins?

Injectors

  • 9 or 10 pin plug (1x12awg power split to 8x22awg, 8x22awg switched ground) allows for staged injectors
  • 5 pin plug  (1x12awg power split to 4x22awg, 4x22awg switched ground) and id wire two up and have two 4x injector looms so it doesn't need to be plugged in to start

Coilpacks

  • 6pin (12awg power split into 4 x 20awg, 1x12awg gnd wired to head split to 4x 20awg, 4x20awg signals from ecu)

I quite like the Sumitomo plugs, just google "Sumitomo 12 way connector" or whatever and heaps of things come up.

Have used these to make sub looms on mine.

Do you have a known good supplier or are the aliexpress connectors ok?
