glen
ANYWAY. Crazy that these things are N-w engined i assumed they would be transverse like a caldina or something. Any plans for a engine swap? What woulds bolt to the gearbox?
Spencer
Another A series like a 4age. The gearboxes in these look pretty punny from the one Ive checked out. They don't have a centre diff either?
xsspeed
Yeah 4wd is sposed to only be when you are stuck/crawling hence low 1st gear only in 4wd. /just 4wd errwhurr
Vintage Grumble
Yeh, 4age's are meant to bolt in fairly easily, if you use a 16V one you can just swap the sump over, and weld up/re drill the 3A flywheel to suit the 4age. I think the factory plenum may also be a little high to fit under the bonnet, but just chop or hammer and you're away. Would be kool to 4age it, but its not on the immediate list of things to do. Just going to clean it up a bit, and then hoon around in it for a bit and asses what needs doing, then get stuck in to archive the next WOF, because there's no way it should have one atm. Gearbag is pretty odd, and didn't come out in anything else, another reason why rusty old parts car may be a good idea, to get a spare box. SHGWAG
Wait... So the only time it's 4WD is when it's in that super low 1st gear?
Vintage Grumble
Nah, the only time you can use super low gear is when it is in 4WD. Its just hard on the front/rear diffs if you rock round in 4WD all the time, as its a solid 50/50 split.
