KKtrips
I'm keen but wanting to stay localish to Wellington for the simple reason there are so many other events on round the country in Jan/Feb/Mar..
Chickity
Heh, it's not like you'd have to move to Auckland for 3 months... North isn't a firm destination, just what has been mentioned in conversation thus far.

OR Could join my brother & his mates as they have booked a hotel on the beach at the Mount. Whatever happens, I'll be in a rotary.

Chickity
Here are some Northland options for consideration/discussion http://www.northland-camping.co.nz/accommodation.htm http://www.northlandholiday.co.nz/
mikuni
loled at Wagener holiday park. So close to Wagoneer. You're talking seriously far north. Will be a fair hike up those ways, probably worth it though. We usually end up heading in that direction, but not quite that far. Some seriously lush spots up there. Chickity
Might as well go proper North. Dog limits available camping options. Someone produce a relation/friend with a decent piece of land somewhere we can all camp on. I too enjoyed the similarity between Wagener and Wagoneer. Simon
I'd be keen for a far north adventure. I been right to the bottom of SI but never been past Auckland. Bloody long way though. 750k from Palmy is probably the limit of what people would drive?
xsspeed
Far north is cone. Would have been keen but doing the south island road trip thing this year.
Chickity
Probably looking about 4 hours past Auckland for those ones. Does give good options for day trippin up 90mile etc though. Get some cars a bit sandy. More options http://www.matauribay.co.nz/camp.html (worst website ever) http://www.baylysbeach.co.nz/accommodat ... hland.html Dargaville - much closer to Akl - maybe 2 hours. My old lady inherited a big piece of land halfway between Ohope & Gisborne awhile back. Has 3 or 5 apartment style units on it. Could investigate? mikuni
Is this weather dependent? Sorry, too soon? I was thinking more about this and there are some sweet batches around on http://www.bookabach.co.nz/ that would be far more likely to allow dogs. Of those camping grounds and around the busy beaches, it's probably unlikely that dogs will be allowed. Not at Matauri Bay at least, that place is super busy I'd be surprised if you could even get in there. It's also a bit of a family spot, not so good for getting chopped. There are epic beaches around that area though. fake edit: damn, found some awesome ones but it looks like most of them are booked for the new year already
