zep
One of my bulbs broke so I figure this is a good time to upgrade and install a relay to get the voltage up, etc. I now see that there are quite a few different H4 bulbs on the market in various different colours, (stated) intensities, etc. What's the go with these? Should I just rock regular ones? http://www.narva.com.au/products/browse/h4
fulloc
Those are just standard man. you can get Xenon gas ones from hella which are a bit better or the Narva Plus 50 range is pretty good. You can also get HID kits to wire into an H4 setup. pretty easy and real cheap. just not vtnz legal.
KKtrips
Get the blue tint ones - they seem to illuminate more stuff and are clearer than the white ones.
BlownCorona
the blue tint ones are generally a placebo in my experience
Hemi
do not go for HID unless your reflectors are real good at focusing light . Sure they are amazing but they just put out WAYY too much light for old headlights and you will blind everyone coming towards you for a kilometer . im gonna put in a plug for hella +50 xenons they have a much whiter light , but at the same time do not get so far into the blue spectrum that you lose visible light . im pretty sure through work i got a set for about $25 . far far better then the artic blue type deal . on a note about the hid , if your headlights have a built in cap to cover the end of the bulb this makes hid much more bearable for other motorists
CaMpylobacter
yeah those hella xenon ultra plus 50s are what i always fit. 'cool blue' ones are shit. if the glass is coloured then don't bother, it just rapes your actual light. hella xenon ultra plus 50s are choice. ke70_83_dx
Im currently running a pair of narva Plus 100's in my ke70 with new relay kit, was a major upgrade.
keltik
Had some PIAA blue ones in the Legacy when i got it. They were ultra shithouse. Would never buy a blue/12094855k bulb again. Good ol' yellowy is where its at. Currently have some hella bulbs fitted and they are tits
Hemi
not to bag a manufactor but narva can eat the peanuts out of my stool . thats just personal opinion.
zep
Cool. I'll try find a set of the plus 50s and get a relay in there quick smart!
cubastreet
I've got some blue tint ones and I like the light they give but my WOF man told me they aren't legal (still passed me though cos he's a gc)
Brock-Lee
ask pete what he is running in the scrot because they rule.
peteretep
I run this model 48951, you just need to make sure your wiring is up to scratch because 130W at 12v is ~11 amps draw which is significantly more than the standard ~4.6 amps. Definately need to use relays I used to run those blue things, but they were crap. To me bottom line in lighting is more power is better, all the other stuff is just marketing rubbish. Sure some will be better than others but you cant beat max powerrrrrrrrrrrr Also, I havent found any problems with narva so far, and my entire car is wired with their stuff. sholdowa
The other thing you can do is to rewire so that both filaments come on at main beam. However, using 100/55W or higher will melt the common pin.
Chrome_GT
I just bought H7s from Ebay $4 each or something like that - cheap as! ex hongkong. Blue glass but advertised as Superwhite. 55W apparently aswell. They look whiter but when driving i have definitely noticed a huge drop in illumination, not just a change of colour. So the morel of my story is don't buy cheap no name bulbs. I'm now going to go and buy proper branded bulbs from Repco, Supercheap, Butlers. Bling
Just got a couple of sets of Narva +100s, beat the pants of what I previously had in there.
peteretep
what are these +100, +50 things, cant we all just use watts??
Bling
Narva light bulb models: eg http://www.narva.com.au/products/browse/h4 All the same watts I think, just better light from same power. Other pages have the specs of the bulbs.
peteretep
oh scroll down further! Even so, I dont see why you wouldnt just buy the most powerful lights that can fit in there
DJZ
With my Z I fitted 100W bulbs to my semi sealed beams and with headlight covers fitted I melted/burnt the paint around the headlight buckets, I went to Narva +50s after that.
