H4 headlight bulbs

Recommended Posts

One of my bulbs broke so I figure this is a good time to upgrade and install a relay to get the voltage up, etc.

I now see that there are quite a few different H4 bulbs on the market in various different colours, (stated) intensities, etc.

What's the go with these? Should I just rock regular ones?

do not go for HID unless your reflectors are real good at focusing light . Sure they are amazing but they just put out WAYY too much light for old headlights and you will blind everyone coming towards you for a kilometer .

im gonna put in a plug for hella +50 xenons they have a much whiter light , but at the same time do not get so far into the blue spectrum that you lose visible light .

im pretty sure through work i got a set for about $25 .

far far better then the artic blue type deal .

on a note about the hid , if your headlights have a built in cap to cover the end of the bulb this makes hid much more bearable for other motorists

I run this model 48951, you just need to make sure your wiring is up to scratch because 130W at 12v is ~11 amps draw which is significantly more than the standard ~4.6 amps. Definately need to use relays

I used to run those blue things, but they were crap. To me bottom line in lighting is more power is better, all the other stuff is just marketing rubbish. Sure some will be better than others but you cant beat max powerrrrrrrrrrrr

Also, I havent found any problems with narva so far, and my entire car is wired with their stuff.

I just bought H7s from Ebay $4 each or something like that - cheap as! ex hongkong. Blue glass but advertised as Superwhite. 55W apparently aswell. They look whiter but when driving i have definitely noticed a huge drop in illumination, not just a change of colour. So the morel of my story is don't buy cheap no name bulbs.

I'm now going to go and buy proper branded bulbs from Repco, Supercheap, Butlers.
