Vintage Grumble
RD41464 ALL UP IN THIS SHIT BRA! They seem pretty well made for chinese crap. Some of the bends are made in merica even, WAT?
CorollaGT
I have pretty much the exact same exhaust setup on my 20v and was only around 88 decibels when it got checked by the certifier.
Vintage Grumble
My first ae101 had four 2 1/2" resonators, and was loud as all buggery, so I was quite surprised. According to my phone it's around 90 dec under free revving, still quieter than the intake, haha. What is the legal limit anyways?
CorollaGT
http://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/exhaust/exhaust-system#note3 92dBA
Vintage Grumble
Woo, must be getting pretty close to that. Mind you there seems to be no rules about intake noise/general noise limits apart from the exhaust.
Testament
Good work on exhaust Tom. it can be a rela pita jerb. does under diff pipe bang on the heaps of stuff?
Vintage Grumble
Why thank you Tom. I did do it a tiny bit too low under the diff, should have been about 20mm higher up, but still has plenny of road clearance, and diff hardly moves/no suspension travel so it seems to be alllllll G. Think I will put a tip on it tho, as I think i'm detecting a very slight rasp. I hate rasp.
thegreatestben
Does it end behind the rear of the car ever so slightly? My celsior had a terrible rasp at 1500rpm when I had the exhaust done until I put the tips on it. In summary, tip +
Vintage Grumble
It ends pretty much parallel with the back bumper, that tapers under quite a bit. Fairly confident 200mm or so of pipe on the end will sort it out.
kpr
Sounds good, but more clutch kicks next time please
Vintage Grumble
I tried a few, just made it understeer more? Maybe not going fast enough for it to work? If my hand brake did anything at all, it would have been a lot easier too. Will have semi's on the front next time.
kpr
Get more aggressive, it'l work. but soon as you back out of it, will understeer again without plenty of grip up front. Good e-brake probably more useful for autocross, than beating down on your clutch. Just ain't no 4age vid without some clutch kicks.
Vintage Grumble
Yeh, def need to get the hand brake working, because flooring it is a 50/50 gamble you will get understeer or oversteer at the moment.
Snoozin
Your TPS is at the back and your throttle linkage on the bottom of the ITB's... excuse my ignorance but are they simply flipped upside down? Having it all tidy like that is relevant to my interest.
Vintage Grumble
Yep, the T3 adapter runs the quads up-side-down, so the TPS clears/is no where near the water inlet thing at the front of the engine.
Snoozin
More fodder for buying a T3 manifold in that case. Thanks.
Vintage Grumble
The are a bloody lovely bit of gear, prolly not too badly priced now, I got mine many years ago when the dollar was shit, and paid around $400 landed I think.
kpr
+1 for upside down throttles. lack of rear end grip will make it easy to slide around. everything will happen slower. leave it in 2nd and let the wrath of 4age torque do the work for you. fun, but you'll come last. More towards neutral and heaps of grip on both ends, will be way faster, but will have to drive more aggressive and quick on the wheel to make it work. only difference between my grip and drift/low speed skid around setup on kp, is tyres. t1r's all round for grip. then something the same size but with less grip on rear for skidding around. just to make it oversteer a touch. don't be tempted to run skinnys on the rear, learnt that the hard way. still grippy in straight line but no cornering grip. which is almost more annoying that understeer looks heaps of fun anyway, jealous because i haven't been to the track for ages
HighLUX
4x slicks for the front wheels and cheap triangles for the rear? I must come geez at next auto x/ peer pressure you into doing D1s
