GuyWithAviators
That was me with this one Mine had started to rust in that same place in the guard, lucky I got to it quickly. It'll be a shame to see another one off the road

Hayholes mum
I hear that the left hand drive versions of these were prone to suffering from 'run on' when the ignition is turned off.
snapper
come on man, even the re-shell. steve deserves it! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/morris/1100/auction-547869704.htm
Llama
I hear that the left hand drive versions of these were prone to suffering from 'run on' when the ignition is turned off. Why just the LHD ones? If it was the same as MGs from that error, it was because they didn't put a diode in the fan circuit (which ran off the ignition circuit), so you would turn off the ignition but the fan would start acting as a generator and keep the ignition circuit going. yoeddynz
Only just spotted this outcome. Tis a shame. Can you not just store it somewhere and fix it later? I'm sure when you get around to doing it that it wouldnt be too bad to pick through the repairs needed bit by bit?..
Yowzer
come on man, even the re-shell. steve deserves it! http://www.trademe.c...n-547869704.htm That's not really a reshell though is it, it's a whole new car
CaMpylobacter
coz buying a bare shell is better? also, giz engine from this che
Yowzer
Either way, it ain't the same car
snapper
Yowser succumbs to the darstardly reverse psychology of my post. hopefully KK will go through the process of 'hmmm, well err no why not just get the grinder and nibbler out, and mig up Steve. After all, buying another to blend parts just wouldn't be the same car."
CaMpylobacter
woud be lush to get rid of inner guards and make up a fip front for it, a-la race minis. shouldn't be too much of a big deal. after that, slam some repro sills on it (do they exist) and be bawse. would req cert and some $$ though, so might as well buy another on and start again
snapper
brilliant idea!
KKtrips
Cheers for the nice words. Unfortunately I've had it in storage for a couple of years already and the rust only got worse. A reshell is the best option. That black one looks good bar the white stripes. Current plan is to strip for parts I want to keep then scrap the body. Have options for parts storage too. So much to sort out in the next couple of weeks!
snapper
so the next incarnation is going to have to be satin white, with all the decals mirrored, and right hand drive. and an ADB badge! and he'll be called edispilf evets.
KKtrips
If I get it. Ill do the LHD conversion too. Haha
