peteretep
nah it was from motorsport tools, I think the brand was rix, apparently an exact copy of gartrac
Rookie
NICE!!! What did you guys fuck up to make it not run?
kyteler
They've clearly installed the intake and exhaust valves in the wrong way.
peteretep
i'm not quite sure, its flaming out all intake ports with injectors set at 19lbs as you suggested The fuel holds quite good at about 46psi but appears to have air in it (sub par return line routing related), not sure if thats an actual problem though we tested the ignition quite a bit and it seems to be sweet, not getting interference/misfires but im still not 100% on the timing. will the engine run if timing is 10 degrees out either side of tdc? hall effect isnt missing any teeth
kyteler
It's gotta be timing for flame to be able to escape out the intake port before the valve closes. Well, either timing or incorrect firing order.
Abarth
Check the firing order mate. My Fiat shot flames like that out the side drafts after I mistakenly put the spark plug leads back on wrong.
xygtho
Remember hearing about a type of misfire years ago that has something to do with when the carbs are designed to suit engines with a different intake pulse? Some shit like that. But Id agree with comments above that ignition timing or incorrect firing order would be the first place to start. Hope you get it sorted and its a simple fix. Car looks awesome BTW
Ned
firing order is sweet (1, 4 and 2, 3 together for wasted spark), and timing appears sweet (enough). Pete is pulling the rocker cover off to check cam timing, as we're lost for ideas at this point
sentra
check both the front lobes on both cams are pointing toward each other at tdc comp side
peteretep
ohv single cam so a fucking pain to check cam timing. half the motor has to come apart to check properly so I will try to check from the rockers and find cam specs. im 99% sure the cam timing is right though
Testament
use piston stop to check TDC and 100% confirm the trigger angle for the hall effect sensor. also make sure you have flashed the microsquirt to the latest 3.3.2 MS2/Extra code. Ned
Has been flashed with latest version from the website (unsure what rev number that was though) Just make sure the valves open and close as you'd expect in regards to TDC etc? only way you get constant flames like that is when the intake ports are still popen when it fires, and the timing light seems to say its legit, so wouldnt hurt to check the cam. Cam (the person) said he's gonna use my scope to check for noise properly to rule that out, and then set the base timing with the plugs out so it cranks nice and quick. and go from there? Might pay to find a dial gauge?
Testament
Piston stop. Dont muck about with a DTI its not accurate due to piston dwell at tdc
