peteretep
Nah I havent ever rebuilt it, so its age is unknown. Pcv valve was removed and now it is just a 1/2" line from crank case to the oil catch can. It breathes quite heavily/visibly even at idle but does not build up much fluid
Spencer
All signs point to ring seal for me.
Rookie
Breathing heavy and low compression are just Kent lyfe. Your cam will be stealing a bunch of static compression aswell.
bigfoot
My lancer had similar symptoms(fog blowing out catch can) found 2 broken rings
peteretep
even english people were concerned with those pressures, they expected at least 150psi maybe a good reason to machine cutouts in pistons and fit a bigger cam
Spencer
You would be hoping for something around 150ish, but yea I don't know your cam specs. Get a spare kent a build something fresh on the side? its no doubt a little tired.
Rookie
Do you know what the compression ratio is supposed to be Pete? The only reason I'm not worried is my Kent is a LC one and I put the same cam in it as yours and I have similar Psi readings.
peteretep
nah not sure what compression should be heres the specs on my cam http://www.kentcams.com/product-details/92/Camshaft/Camshaft/BCF2-Fast-Road/ only problem with building up another motor is that I would struggle to find a block that could be taken out to 1800 like what I have now, but I could do that
punkoutnz
Why not just pick up a stockish motor to chuck in while you rebuild the one you have then?
peteretep
with oil in cylinder 1, it went from 130psi to 140 and cylinder 4 went from 115 to 135psi
Spencer
So yea ring seal a little sad, up to you how much you care? Its still going to chug along for awhile yet.

peteretep
I was just looking around under the dash at a place to put the new ecu, and discovered that my heater is leaking from somewhere, looked like a couple of places. I will take it out some time this week. What are opinions on removing it all together and fit a fan only or is that a dumb idea?
Spencer
Depends how much you drive in winter? in Straya cunt there's not much point.
peteretep
is it generally considered a stupid idea for a street car? the interior of my escort is unusually hot even with the fancy radiator. It seems like I could fit a jabsco fan and hook it up to the outlets to blow air on the windscreen without too much trouble

bigfoot
Lancer currently rolls no heater or fan. Sucks when the window fogs up but easy enough to deal with
