I think people are more scared of it than they should be. but maybe selling your 304 and buying a chev would not be all that different cost wise and less work to do. if you want to tweak things more later I would definitely be considering chev, more stuff available etc. but maybe you prefer the sound of the holden motor, or just would like to have a holden with a holden motor? basically you just have to decide what you want, neither is right or wrong. Yowzer
If the car's already been certified with a big engine, and as long as your engine mounts and g-box cross member aren't garbage it should fly through cert with no issues.

It w's more a case of I got the bits , I really don't need another project just a bolt in and go plus no where to park it but outside and its super tidy
Furai
Would I need to supply drawings if I was going to weld brackets like this for the engine mounts? It has no effect on any suspension geometry but just wondering if it would need anything more than to be well constructed for cert
Archetype
How is braking ability evaluated for a cert when a vehicle with terrible factory brakes receives an engine transplant with a significant increase in power (percentage wise)? cletus
Nah no drawings needed Just make them strong enough and you'll be fine Depending on the thickness and position of the mount tabs you may need to weld them to a flat plate then to the x member Ie |____| instead of | |

Up to 50% increase over oe output- 3x 100- 0kph stops under 4.4 seconds each in a total of 2 minutes Over 50% - 5x 100-0kph stops under 4.4 seconds each in a total of 3 minutes
Archetype
Beauty, that makes it pretty easy then, as I can leave the brake upgrade to last and see how bad the stock brakes are before I start upgrading them. I’m taking about a factory 31hp to 100ish hp upgrade, so the 2nd option you mentioned will apply to me. I doubt I could even get the thing to 100km/h 5x in less than 3 minutes at the moment.

Be prepared to chock and leave your car in gear. I saw a hydro handbrake race car take off at an event a couple of months ago. Luckily next to a bunch of people that were keen enough to try and stop it.
