DirtyThirtys 1984 Toyota Starlet KP61
DirtyThirty replied to DirtyThirty's topic in Projects and Build Ups
Thick black shaft in hand. Looks less girthy because its cold. New UJ's at both ends, new yoke (this was about half the bill), balanced, painted. Looks the part! Have installed it so its all looking positive. Used Drive Inn, as theyre down the road from us. Aiden did a E30 driveshaft for me many moons ago, so went back to him for this. Happy it didnt need any shortening. -

Was just admiring your chaser and had a thought to mention that your cassette player likely just has stretched belts, any old barry hi fi repair place thats been open for long enough should be able to help with generic replacements. Often if you just pull a few other cassette players apart youll eventually find the lengths you need.

Starting to find flash tuning annoying on lookout for VT ECU as you can fit an NVRAM Board and do live tuning bit pricey though. Will see if I can get tune nailed before I can afford the parts if so I'll not bother. Vk327 mentioned this about 5 pages back might be worth doing. Also big box of heat management stuff on way, seems ok engine bay temps aren't terrible but won't hurt anything been cooler.- 409 replies

Rhyscar's Subaru Type RA of teenage dreams... where less is more

Awesome car dude. Always had a soft spot for Subarus. Dad rallied/hillclimbed an RS Legacy for years (and a Leone before that). The Legacy was pretty much stock except for RA/Sti C/R Gear kit and diffs etc. Punched well above its weight. I drove it on my learners not long before he sold up and hung up the helmet. Shat myself how quickly it came on boost with the gearset etc. Was a lesson on how gearing can make a huge difference to a car. Your car definitely brings back memories of going to watch him race and seeing lots of 90's Impreza's, Evo's etc. etc. If I won lotto a tidy GC8 Impreza would definitely be in the Garage. -

Oh hi. Looks like I'm going to be in town for the night Thursday 20th June. Anyone want to catch up and hold hands? Assuming you will have recovered from the fishermans table seafood chowder by then anyway. -
They look the business, but there is no way I can hide that sort of expenditure from my wife.

Would need to get the go ahead from lvvta For some reason , doing anything with lowering gvm is not possible every time I've asked So then you're stuck with whatever gvm it has, and any replacement hubs/suspension components have to be able to handle that load Going from 6 to 4 stud won't fly either for the same reason
-
Is it worth dicking round fitting a later model subframe into the ute (altezza or similar)? How would that go with certing obviously the better donor would be an mx5 due to it being narrower, but not sure about going from the 6 to 4 stud. the ute will never carry a load again and weighs less than an mx5 anyway. was just a thought.

Yup, these o rings are toast. Quick visit to seal imports here in Hamilton and 7 bucks later. A little amount of grease to help them slide in. Cause they were most definitely a snug fit this time round and they were all together again. Back on And all running again. Hope the weather does something great and I can head out for a ride double check it's running good on the open road. Mates also said I could use his balancer to balance the carbs. So might take him up on that, probably shoot to his house and do it there as he has a way better set up and plenty of garage space.

After clearing out the fuel system and sealing the lift pump leak the same trip took 36 mins this afternoon It's still hellishly noisy, but too wet and cold to pull the rocker cover off today
