Indiana_Jones Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Awesome, I did one of those when I was a teenager, I think I have it downstairs somewhere still. Look forward to seeing the build progressing 3 1 Quote

Popular Post Alfashark Posted November 9, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 9, 2024 1:35 scale... Some geezer converted the standard assortment of Tamiya soldiers into modelers. 13 Quote
igor Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 The thought process that engendered that diorama is incredible. 3 Quote
Popular Post Alfashark Posted November 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 12, 2024 Some incredibly talented people out there. The ill-fated Edmund Fitzgerald - Presumably appearing somewhat as she did before she went under and was immortalized in Gordon Lightfoot's song. 10 Quote
Indiana_Jones Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Just the decals and the weathering to do, so tune in for 2029 6 Quote

Popular Post CarolsHusband Posted January 3 Popular Post Posted January 3 Evening. Four monthly update on the halftrack. As you may have guessed I've been busy on other things but I got this finished the other day It's going to end up in a diorama with the Flak 88mm so I'll post sunny (and hopefully better) pictures then. Got a a few bits & bobs going on, plus a juicy big one that I got for Christmas. Hopefully back at it soon. 16 Quote
Indiana_Jones Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Nice work mate, is that the Tamiya kit? (I did one of those years ago). German armour looks so lush, just the bloody overlapping wheels are always a balls ache, bet the crews loved that in the field.... 1 Quote
locost_bryan Posted January 4 Posted January 4 That's some awfully good work there @CarolsHusband, I am somewhat jealous tbh. 1 Quote

It's the early 70's one with about 20 parts but the photo etch extra detail really brings it to life. The clips for the tools on the fenders are proper fiddly. And yeah, Zee Germans would have won WW2 if it had been a cool looking armour competition. It becomes quite obvious that George Lucas based "The Empire" on the Krauts when you compare some of the transports & walkers to German Halftracks. 4 Quote

a.craw4d Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Anyone here used one of these airbrush’s? Designed for makeup, nail polish, cake decorating etc. Wondering how well they do hobby stuff. 1 Quote
Alfashark Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The skill and talent out there astounds me. 1/32 Wildcat diorama... 8 Quote
Vintage Grumble Posted January 7 Posted January 7 What about that Bobby Fingers, he makes a nice diorama ... Quote
CarolsHusband Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Next out of the traps is this.... IRL my plan for the 1/1 scale dump truck is to civilianise it so I thought I build this one with a view to deciding on a paint scheme. I will update as I go along but I'm thinking black chassis, fenders & wheels with a blue bed & lower cab, possibly with a white top half & bonnet. Anyway, got a start on these past couple of evenings. Also, got this for Christmas off the bin lids & bought some interior & exterior photo etch. It may be next on the list but I have something special on the way. 6 Quote
CarolsHusband Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Evening fellow modellers ! (yeah, right...) So. The Chevy. Now, far be it from me to judge the abilities of any producer of model kits, but this is the second & last ICM kit I'll be building. The 6 wheel Mercedes staff car got bunged in a corner and has only just been saved with respray & some tarpaulin.... To be fair, it must be tricky concentrating on the detail of 1/35 scale injection moulding while the Russkies are lobbing cruise missiles at you but I'm struggling with the results again. I got past the fact that the rear springs were identical, as opposed to left & right handed. The fronts were fine. With a little trimming & tweaking the rears ended up pretty damn close. Then I tried to glue the axle on & the mounts were about 3mm out each side. Times that by 35 and no amount of kicking & swearing is going to make up a 3" gap. I extended the spring perches to fit but I hope that's it for the fettling. I've got enough to worry about making it into a tipper. Anyway, pics... Spring hangers widened Chassis nearly done First coat & liight weathering on the engine & box In other news, my super cool purchase dated January 3rd still hasn't arrived. I'm about to start a Paypal claim. Stupid models. 5 Quote
CarolsHusband Posted Sunday at 10:41 Posted Sunday at 10:41 It's getting there... Paint the chassis next & then start on the cab & bed. In " I really shouldn't buy any more crazy Ukrainian kits" news, I bought this... 439 parts, FFS. It even has 2 part U-Bolts for clamping the bed mounts to the chassis. All these parts to make TWO wheels & tyres. Madness awaits. 8 Quote
