Spent some time messing up the body & chopping bits off. @Lord Gruntfuttock, I bottled it (again) on accident damage but I'll get to it some time

Found an ancient aerosol tin on the shelf. Looked like a pretty good 50's Caddy type colour.

Weathering, rust & detritus to follow.

Made a start on the bodywork.

Planning on going for the ' parked under a pine tree' effect ultimately so it's mostly a waste of time.

I've always fancied that, maybe I'll wait until my 80's. I remember the 1970's Tamiya catalogues made good use of bonsai.

I have an actual natural one in a pot, a Cedar pod that had grown on a mossy rock that my dad rescued. He also had a Beech that grew out of a log but it karked it one hot summer.

I have been looking into making trees for a couple of diorama ideas. Watch this space ?

My middle child has started her land rover kit (combining my love of British cars and models - this makes me have the warm and fuzzies).

Bloody wife was trying to convince her to paint it purple, thankfully my daughter has better taste and we've landed on Tamiya Nato Green.

Just force it on them, they'll soon cave etc.

\But in reality, I think it was a case of watching me do it and getting interested in giving it a go. We did a Tomahawk together, which to be fair did take around a year to finish because we're lazy / i'm busy with work. But when her birthday came around at the end of last year, she specifically asked for a model kit and she said she wanted the land rover. So that was that.

I'm trying to pick the era that scene is meant to be in. Looks like it could be 40 to 60s until I spotted the stereo on the bench.

Potentially replicating the BBMF workshops in the 80s.  Although the manual on the bench is for a Merlin as fitted to the Spit airframe, remember the RAF still had Shackletons (Griffon powered) in active service until 1991.
