danger
So yeah, Josh may have had no worries in the wag around the flat of Chch but I'm having a bit of trouble contending with hills. LD28 Turbo. Just had fitted an intercooler etc,. Seems to be running about 5psi #1: How many boosts can I run safely on stock internals? #2: How do I run an EGT gauge? Drill and tap the exhaust mani?

Seedy Al
Yip with the EGT gauge, Just drill and tap, peice of cake. Do it in a place where theĀ probe can go in a reasonable distance.
Threeonthetree
About 10psi is what the american LD28 piners reckon. The static compression ratio on an LD28 is something silly like 22:1 so I wouldn't get too carried away with winding up the poosts. Ā EGT just drill and tap it the dump pipe after the turbo. danger
Ok lush. So I just get the EGT in, google the healthy range then put in a boot tap and wind to 10psi, then just fiddle with the pump to get it to stay in the EGT range?
BobbyBreeze
You can jam as much boost into it as you want, so don't worry about that.Ā It is the fuel you have to worry about and its the fuel that will make it go well. Has the injection pump got a boost compensator?Ā

Seedy Al
manifolds where its at. usually if you go after the turbo, all you are reading is what the temp is after the turbo has done its thing With it being in the manifold, you are actaully reading the temps that are building up in the head. Which is the whole point. Ā no need to be sorry my friend Ā Dane, do a skid.

igor
Good luck with it Dane. Keen to see this thing laying black smoke and black lines.
RUNAMUCK
A mate reckoned his mate had a 280zx running an LD28+T. He'd tickled up his injector pump using parts from a factory LD20T to make it boost compensating.Ā You could free boost it if you really wanted to. But actual power is made through making heat. (Adding fuel) make too much hear though, and Dane has another "driver" that required mechanical repairs.Ā
danger
I don't think this thing will ever crack a skid. Would just be good to be able to do the speed limit up a hill.

igor
Bollocks Beaver. A bit of power in reserve is always an advantage when towing.

It's alright mayte, the LNI wagon contingent drive on wagon time. Ā Or as the police would call it a "rolling roadblock".
