Spencer
Dismantle and expect, if they have a big lip they probably need sleeving, a little rust/black shit then hone it, if it looks lush then seals and do nothing.

Rookie
If there is any thing in the bores I would try clean it up with scotchbrite and crc, if there is any pitting hone it, and if that doesn't work get a new one or resleave it. Spencer
Yes sorry always use a scotchbrite and some lube first to clean up shit.

slipsittin
Commonly used in gokarts and motorcycles for racing, so start with bike shops. Try Automotive Supplies or Supercheap too

CorollaGT
If you want something soon-ish Toyota NZ have a Denso equivalent (W27ESV) and they're $4.60 each rrp
peteretep
why is it that tappet settings change for different cams? personally I have had no luck with bigger tappet settings, as in they make a big racket that never seems to die away and when I set the tappets to factory settings they run sweet without issue
Roman
Does anyone know of a factory FPR that will fit a Toyota rail, that's higher than ~40psi? Everything I've seen that's ~60psi runs a returnless line and FPR in the tank. Trying to avoid a big bulky external aftermarket one if I can. fletch
How much pressure do you want? Give your stock one a love tap with a hammer to squash the spring up a bit for some more psi.

Yowzer
So if I were to mash R134 in my Cressidas R12 system, will the world explode? I don't even know if the compressor works so I'm not concerned about wrecking anything. The system's been empty for years.
Spencer
You really need to flush, new set of O-rings, new oil, new receiver/dryer then charge. Depends what the system is to how well it will work with the different gas. Pretty sure R134 mixed with the R12 oil makes bad stuff.
Yowzer
Yup I have the machine and a selection of o rings so flushing ain't an issue. Otherwise maybe I'll raid a bunch of crap from a wreck and try horey it in.
Spencer
Dryers can be reasonably generic and should be replaced every time you open the system so get one (be like $20). Then drop the sump on compressor if it has one, some just have a drain bolt then flush that, take lines off and flush until it flows clear, same with condenser and evap flush until clear. Then assemble with new o-rings, add manufacturers recommended amount of oil to compressor, pull a deep vacuum (important) and see if it holds overnight, if not leak test. If good charge and enjoy. A new parallel flow condenser will bump up the efficiency of the system (they are dirt cheap), and how well the R134 works also will depend how your system regulates the evaporator (there's like 10+ different styles in cars)
