Yowzer
Try it, report back. It's not gonna make it any worse now is it? An oil change afterwards could be a good idea though, it might not be the best stuff to run though the oil pump if it makes it into the sump. I'm keen to hear first hand results.
RUNAMUCK
so you bought a known smokey mitsi and tar all cars of that brand with the same brush? Bart, I thought more of you, man.  I didn't know it smoked when I bought it. It didn't run. I do lots of kms round town in my job. 9 times out of ten, when I smell burning oil in traffic, it's coming from a mitsi. True story.
Ogre
Put a 10w30 mineral oil in it and moreys stop smoke.  Going with a thick oil is a very common mistake people make. The whole issue is that the rings struggle getting the oil off the bores, so why go with a thick oil and make it harder?  I recommend this to heaps of people that come into the shop, works most of the time. A good fang also helps as always. Its what id did in my old nana spec lancer.
Rookie
You could always pull the head and sand the bores? Â I appreciate that you may not have the fucks required though.
RUNAMUCK
There is a distinct lack of the fucks required to be sure. A healthy does of thin oil, and a lengthy uphill full throttle tune up is mandatory. Followed by the jif treatment for lols sake. (I'm going to squirt it in through the sparkplug holes if I do try it) Get plenty into the cylinders.

felixx
just throw a handful of sand in the bores.. its cheaper

fuel
do you want to let us know what year/model Mitsi and what engine it has?  Does it smoke under load or only when idling/under vacuum?
Ogre
^Thats a point, valve guides are often poos too
pusherman
Vannys got pooed valve guides. Will brasso fix that. Lolz much
Ogre
^Will fix anything except for getting rid of rust on your chrome bumpers.
RUNAMUCK
Reno and I unloaded it off the trailer tonight, and began the "tune up". It does smoke less now. (To be fair, it hadn't run for at least a year) Now it only gives a puff of blue when the throttle is mashed. (Zhorst still smells rank as though) Did a couple of sweet handbrake skids on grass too. (Auto is uber ghey) Valve guide seals have crossed my mind, but it's a mitsi, so the oil control rings were probably omitted at the factory. Plan is, dose with lucus, try get wof, buy rego, let mum use it while I lock horns with her volvo 360, then SELLSELLSELL!!!! Anyone in the marker for a shitty mid 80's mitsi with a recent wof? lol
Ogre
^There will be plenty of OSs keen for that.

RUNAMUCK
It's probably getting rare now. Most of them would have disappeared in a cloud of blue smoke by now..........
hillman1
Out bid $300.
fuel
Eww a tredia. Yeah I agree crush it or send to the wreckers. It will have the 1.6 4G32 engine, strong as anything but not rev happy and yes prone to smoke as they have hard bores and soft rings and valve guides probably well worn by now.
