Bling
@datlow I'd rock Teddies 100%. Will be interesting to see what changes. Camber would be a good one to see some more allowance for. I think they dropped a nuke on what was allowed, due to some people just taking the piss with camber. A more gentle approach could have worked I'm sure. But I wouldn't have a clue where to start with writing that up. If the rules change so that my new rims don't comply I'm selling up and off knitting. Was just checking the limitations for 14's were as bad as I remembered.
kyteler
Easiest thing to do is follow manufacturers tire specs (for cert anyway) if uncerted then meh. Make it work.
KKtrips
22 hours ago, Bling said: Anyone got a current source for the wheel / tyre stuff? LVVTA site seems down for the information and most other links are dead. I knew I should have saved it! Links shouldn't be dead? I'll check now. edit - nope it's there https://lvvta.org.nz/documents/infosheets/LVVTA_Info_01-2009_V3_Tyre_Size_to_Wheel_Size_Compatibility_Guide.pdf Will hopefully be updating that again sometime soon. (I have the wheels and tyres standard on my desk for updating)
Bling
I had been using a different link previously, this one, which is linked on page 2: https://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/infosheets/LVVTA_Info_01-2009_V2_Tyre_Size_to_Wheel_Size_Compatibility_Guide.pdf I guess the document has been updated since then though. Also found it linked of this wheel site: http://ssawheel.co.nz/technical_id_69.html so I guess people need to update their links. I'm lazy so just used google and came up with the dead links. Will go via the site next time. When visiting the old link (above) the "home page" link doesn't work, so that's why I thought it was gone. 1
vwthomas
Hey guys I’m looking to get my car certed in the upcoming months and I was wondering if anyone knew of a brand of tire that had a tech sheet that allowed a bit of stretch. I have a 3 piece wheel that (I think) is 8 inch wide. So worst case scenario I will buy some smaller lips for the wheels. But I’m currently running a set of 195 50 15 not a huge amount of stretch but outside of the guidelines non the less. So just trying to gauge what my best option from here (trying to be legal)
linearentropy
Only tyre I found that was smaller than 225/45R15 and had manufacturer information saying it was made to go on an 8j wheel was the Toyo T1R 215/45R15. I've been told they are hard to come by now due to the change in Toyo importers. They're pretty bad in terms of dry grip and even worse in the wet. I'll be selling mine soon enough - moving to semi slicks as the performance just isnt there.
JoKer
2020 thread update : here's current file on the LVVTA site https://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents.html#thresholds Quote Info 01-2009 - Tyre Size to Rim Size Compatibility Guide (V3, released December 2016) https://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/infosheets/LVVTA_Info_01-2009_V3_Tyre_Size_to_Wheel_Size_Compatibility_Guide.pdf Quote INFORMATION SHEET # 01 - 2009 (V4 March 2018) Page 1 of 7 Tyre Size to Rim Size Compatibility Guide Background: The purpose of this LVV Information Sheet is to provide a complete source of information regarding tyre and rim size compatibility to LVV Certifiers. It was found that the original version of this info-sheet was very narrow in its scope, and was largely directed at vehicles which had been modified in a particular style. This fourth version has been released in order to give a greater range of fitments and options, and should give LVV Certifiers a helpful tool to ensure wheel & tyre compatibility on most commonly available types of passenger vehicle. Legal Requirements: Paragraph 2.6(1)(b) of Low Volume Vehicle Standard 205-00 (Wheels & Tyres), states that tyres must be an appropriate selection for the type and width of wheel to which they are fitted. Compatibility Tables: The information contained in the following tables has been provided by tyre manufacturers and tyre experts. These tables don’t cover all possible tyre sizes, but should cover most common fitments. Where the tyre size is not listed, the general patterns found in these tables should be followed to determine the correct fitment range. We ask all LVV Certifiers who are presented with a vehicle with tyres that appear to be too narrow or too wide for the rims, to check these tables to ensure that the tyre size is compatible with the wheel-rim size. Individual Tyre Manufacturer’s Variations: Whilst we have made every reasonable effort to ensure that the information contained in this information sheet is correct, specifications regarding tyre size and fitment vary between tyre manufacturers. Where our sources have provided us differing specifications in compiling this info-sheet, we’ve broadened the range to encompass the minimum to the maximum rim width, allowing for the broadest possible fitment range. Additionally, where an LVV Certifier is presented with a wheel & tyre combination which is outside the scope of the tables in this info-sheet, LVVTA requires that the guidelines of the tyre manufacturer in question are followed, and verification from the tyre manufacturer is provided by the LVV Certifier when forwarding the LVV plate application. Mark_Fleming
can somebody confirm the minimum width allowable in the 15-inch rim size? I thought it was 4.5".....that new chart mentions a 4.0" size at the top of the 15-inch list....

xsspeed
hey @KKtrips did these change since you mentioned it in 2019? Looking at tyres for 16x9 and 16x10, the 10s are semi ball ache Has anyone had much luck with getting rim width info from tyre manufacturers where it is not listed on their site? for instance I'm looking at these 265/45r16 kumho's that seem ideal for 16x10s but they dont list the rim width on the site https://www.kumho.com.au/tyres/racing/ecsta-v70a/

It was for me when getting 215/45R15 Toyos certified on a 15x8 as they're smaller than the required 225width. Showed the certifier the details on the Toyo UK website as the NZ site was useless. He was all good with it. 3

It'll probably be out in the coming week or so.
