tortron
From memory it has a very shallow curve which angles down to the valves. Cant take much out of the head as the water galleries are very shallow
Nominal
I suggest you trim down your bump stops some, or they will get smashed off the inner guard. Known problem with lowered Minors.
tortron
Yup im wise to that jive its usually the bump stop.that goes through the inner wing and ventilates the engine bay. Can stay that low till iv sorted everything else

fourfingapete
That sounds sooooo sweet. Loving the spark plug leads, may have to find some for my car. much nicer than silly blue ones
tortron
can get them exuk or america for cheap enough, i got a whole bunch of the brass duckbill lugs and knurled nuts for cheaper than one off trademe. Have tried to source cloth covered wires for everywhere possible, as anything else just looks silly. will connect exhaust and post a sound check. cbf rolling around on the ground today, so might set up the sound system
SOHC
You could get a metal spinner to make you some nice pancake air filters and use the elements from a Triumph or something.
tortron
Oil coated brillo pads are more correct. I pioe the idea of a single one

tortron
yea have seen all of the parts on offer im more of a do it yourself kind of guy, more period correct haha and i dont think i could bare to part with more than i would spend to buy an entire minor on a single part

tortron
Brakes are putting the shits up me. Pedal feels great handbrake works fine all cylinders are moving nicely all shoes are adjusted correctly doesnt stop Back to the start again, shoes are all new, master and slave cylinders are all resleeved and rekitted, lines are all new (none of the rubber ones were in stock, i bet its them )
Nominal
Did you get the drums skimmed/shoes arced to the drums?I spent heaps on some Riley 1.5 front drums on my Minor. They stop OK but the LHS one is very grabby. All new bits too. Drum brake lyfe!
tortron
I did not, but they are looking pretty good (as did the ones i took out) (spun the wheels and applied the brakes/adjusted the shoes right out. then checked for high/low marks) Some damp spots on the rear flexi line - which isnt in production at the moment. So i will swap out the series mm hardware for later spec so i can use a common rear hose. going to replace the fronts too, they look newer, but are probably about 20 years old. What i figure is happening is pistons move fine when i check (and have the drum off), but when all the drums are on the pressure is expanding the rubber lines
tortron
replaced the rubber lines. Pedal is rock hard now (shoes adjusted right out into drums), harder than before even. will back off the shoes and give it another test
tortron
forgot to mention, due to 50 odd years of foot to the floor motoring, the accelerator pedal was bent quite a bit. Meaning with the carpets in i could not attain full dort. Reshaped it and now have full travel
kiwi808
For the record, I couldn't get my Morris Minors to stop. Apparently they didn't stop from factory. I rebuild the front and rear drums on mine, new shoes, machined drums to match and resleaved wheel cylinders in stainless steel. I also resleaved the master cylinder in stainless steel, bleed the system, fresh fluids the lot so that it was better than factory. It still doesn't stop very well. But all the old blokes in the Morris Minor club say I have excellent brakes!
