    LD28 Turbo

I thought this was LD - but might be a 3Litre Merc motor - still, you can make a diesel boogie
  5. That'll make it look a bit like a 4 door version of a buick sedanette / coupe - love the 50's slope style and the rear wheel spats.
  6. Im no expert but might be a good time to remove some stuff like the intercooler to give it a good cleanout too. And as above look into getting a couple of new hoses. I had a clip come undone on the air cleaner box (TD27T D21) and that sounded like shit was gonna hit the fan. Its always good to find the source of scary noises and find they are not terminal.
  7. Reviving this Post - much excite see the vids above Heres some old pics as the ones fromt he post have gone Dad has been busy stripping and rebuilding this - so far has the Frame stripped and re powder coated in red and had a general tidy up. I NEED HELP The engine is a Yamaha DS6 from the 70's and when it was running sounded like this thing - bloody awesome Heres what kinda bike the engine is off Anyway it blew up from running too lean. it melted a piston among other things and the spares we have are all haddit. We ran some carbs we found as it used to run on methanol and they were so huge the engine would flood. It apartently had around 40Hp. It was a prick to start and was generally missing bits and pieces aswell (no clutch or kickstart) We are thinking for ease of running it etc to find a complete engine with the clutch and kick start like an RD250 as they look similar to keep with the theme of the Kart. Then we can kick start it, and use the clutch to move off. Any help locating an engine like this, Yamaha Parallel Twin 250cc (or 350 but would have to keep quiet as 250cc is max allowed) 2 stroke, would be much appreciated as there is a big meeting in Hawkes Bay in January and we would like to have it running then.
  8. Yea Fizz hard - love a good 2 smoke on full song, but your chainsaws are not oldschool enough lol Canadian for Lyfe haha no chain brake or safety stuff here
  9. Highly recommend Gordon Milne Paint & Panel Ltd - they fixed my 120Y under Swann Insurance and matched a custom colour - they also painted "SKDMRX" - Johns V8 Cedric from memory.
  10. Note to self - make underground carpark with steep as fuck driveway. Like 45 degree shit with a hidden winch at the top to get your cars in and out. Those crooks would never work it out lol On serious note - had accident with 120Y when with Swann and were awesome, even let me pic the panel beater and all. Hope you get paid for man hours - your the only one that knows your way around the thing and hopefully it doesnt take too long.
  11. Geezz - my first race Kart was a midget with an iron horse - when we raced them you used to have issues with those flappy "reed" valves? (i was 9 at the time). This made them run shitty or not at all. Great find thou - loving the asymmetric wheel placement. Check it out even a vintage kids class now lol
  12. Cool wagon man - always had a soft spot for Brick Volvos
  13. Compulsory pic of you rear side window half down !! Love these - ive heard that s13 front end stuff can be giggled around to fit - would need 5 stud hubs (obviously) but knuckles etc possibly bolt to balljoint. Then use coilovers or factory s13 struts and lowering springs
  14. Ill have a chat to the neighbours (combined drive) - see if they want to have to select 4wd when your done or not lol.
  15. Need driveway graded - will take pics - gravel already bout 200m long lol. Can bring car transporter for moving it - would it be over 3T Awesome work though - need running vids
  16. Gee aye - word gets around - still trying to grow the actual grass in the paddocks atm - its a bit harder than you might think lol. Its a no from me.
  17. Thats what i brought the Alpacas for - eat my lawn and shit it one spot in their paddock (lawn not covered in poo yay)
  18. Reminds me of new school penny farthing - i laugh everytime i see your thumbs up pic pete. You should build one with rear steer for awesome amounts of carnage.
  19. Great car dude - we used to run a Laser Sport (same car basically) at the Hawkes Bay Car Club - was great, we had a side exit pipe with just one coby hotdog muffler and it would scream to nearly 8 grand. Good little handler too
  20. JUst pulled this off the net - looks like theres heaps of Economy Foamers out there (ill be one soon, maximising economy on an old LD28). Anyway - could it have vapour locked? I know many Holdens, when they dont start, will shut off injectors when hot if you hold the throttle to the floor while cranking. I have found that heating gasoline to 180 deg. F yields about a 10% return improvement in fuel economy. Detonation threshold seems about the same for a given octane value. Greater tendency to vapor lock during hot restart. Most OBII ecu s have the ability to recognize this condition and will keep injectors closed until engine restarts. May take 2 or 3 tries but it will fire up. Heating intake air also improves fuel economy but I have found a greater tendency to go into detonation especially when ambient temps. go above 60 deg F. If you run a dedicated water or water/methanol system you can effectively supress detonation with even the lowest octane fuel. Reply With Quote
