Nominal
An automotive glass place should be able to replace the mirror glass. I had one done for my Holden, they urethane sealed it in I think, because the old glass and retaining gasket had fallen out and were lost.

Petes mk2
The new engine mount rubber is slightly thicker than old one (3mm} and not sure wether this will have any effect when motor is back in. If anyone has experience with using these mounts could you let me know if I'm on the right track. Cheers Peter

I've also heard of lubricating the spring too so it doesn't get rusty and increase friction.
Petes mk2
Have been puting wiring loom back in and have some spare wires that I have to find a home for. Lefthand plug is for hazard lights. Unknown are the 3 wires in one lead, then a single red wire just by itself. Next are three wires with a curved plug on the end that looks like it plugs into switch by ashtray moulding. Next I have a small light on two wires which I can't remember unpluging. Any help would be appreciated.

Bam
What a cool project Pete. I have just about finished my 1980 Sport build. Looking forward to seeing her painted! Well done.
Petes mk2
Someone might know what finish is on the Ford and Escort badges that are on the boot of a MK2 Escort Sports. My ones don't seem to have any chrome on them but it looks like ther might be a small amount of black. Any thoughts on how they should be finished would be appreciated. Tiger Tamer
I can remember back then when Ford replaced chrome with black on trim. Can't say what the coating was but it would have been cheaper than chrome.

Tiger Tamer
Have you tried Palmside. They do list UJ's for Escorts but wouldn't know if they were correct for your car.
CUL8R
^ Simon at Palmside is a good bugger to try. Failing that I would talk to Shane @ Ms Coombes Ltd, they have a fair amount tucked away last time he sorted something for me, he also has a Escort in the build and may have something himself... Petes mk2
Lots of small jobs to do one of which is to get fuse cover back to looking like new. Any suggestion would be welcome. Cheers
Nominal
Some plastics respond well to waft over from a butane torch. Probably best to test it on a spare part, or the back or something first. e.g.

Petes mk2
Hi all, Have just fitted a set of Pacemaker extractors for my escort build and need a bit of advice on what size pipe I should use for rest of exhaust system. The motor is Kent 1600 with mild GT cam, ported and a few other tweeks. The extractors tailpipe is 44mm but have been told this can be changed. Cheers Peter
cletus
I had a escort with a modified 1600 a long time ago, that had a 2" pipe and a couple of resonator type mufflers, it was quite raspy I then put that motor in a mark 2 cortina and 2.5" exhaust with a single triple pass muffler before the diff, it was a deeper sound but from memory it sounded quite good
