Nominal
just like to mention your sweet english wheel .. homebuilt? Yes, quite a few years ago now. Upper wheel is a crane castor of some sort. Frame is all scrap steel bits. Lowers were machined from a hydraulic ram piston rod. Design was based on wheelmachines.com in the early days. Pretty easy to do, mostly from steel plate.

Mof
Far too late, but. .. Don't have a sand bag? Whack it on the lawn
Nominal
I might try that with the second half. Apparently an old leather handbag works well too,
Raizer
Then once that looses all excitement you can try whacking it on the neighbours lawn.

a.craw4d
Great build thread. My grand Pop used to have one of these and I remember riding in the back seat when Nan and Pop went to town. When much older I got to drive it a few times and was surprised how well it went for a 1.3 wagon. Guess you know by now but it had a foot pump beside the clutch for the windscreen washer. Keep up the good work.
azzurro
Also walked pickapart for awhile to find some more rostyles for the front which should help the looks a lot.
Nominal
I've got a full set, but they won't fit on the front without spacers - drum face is inset like this |__/--------\__| It's a super-annoying design. Won't be able to run modgies either (sadface)
azzurro
Sooooo, when are you starting on the drum spacers then?
locost_bryan
Wow, you've done some great work getting this back on the road. Mightily impressed. Looks good on the Rostyles.
Nominal
Thanks - it's good to be able to drive it. I'll have a closer look at the spaces, but a quick measure indicated about 10mm was needed, along with longer wheel studs. Technically spacers need to be certed, but if it works out OK I could just swap back to the stock wheels at WOF time. In some ways it would be easier to weld the space to the wheel face, but that is probably dodgy too. /I really want a set of Turbos. Or maybe those 5-spoke Triumph wheels would look good. a.craw4d
Is widening the steelies so you can still rock the factory hubcaps an option?
Nominal
Yes, 4x4.5 or 4x114.3 if you like to mix and match units. I could get the stock wheels widened, but for roughly the same sort of money I should be able to get some oldschool mags.
Steelies
it was great to see this whip at wagnats, well done terry. especially with you and mustang sally sleeping in there the whole time. A+ it sure has some quirky design features about it
Seedy Al
I still can't believe how much crap you managed to cram in that thing. You have wagon tetris mastered.
