Beaver
If I was to do it again (which I may do for the new van, although perhaps not quite as trick) there are a few things I would do differntly (I was making it as I went) so happy to have a yarn after a few beersies and tell you all my trade secrets.

Seedy Al
Hey. So yeah. I have been busy on this cutting out rust and welding in steel. Think im about 15 hours into it now. Seems to be taking me forever but then again I hate doing rust so probably not working as efficiently as I could. Two bits to weld in tomorrow and then its filler time. Will upload pics this weekend to keep this thread alive. Plan is to get a warrant so I can lower it really.

Seedy Al
Modified a roof rack I had in stock last night to fit van. Lets just say its old and built like a trampoline of the same vintage. Anyway got all excited after work today as I was going to fit on van for good. Only had to losen up one clamp screw and then on. Yea so that just broke off lol. Will pull the little block thing off tomorrow and get some drilling and tapping going on. Sigh

Popular Post Seedy Al
OK, Time for an actual post that has pictures and other fancy shit like this. So To start with, I bought this off Beaver, A) was a good price, just needed rust in the front sorted, which I thought would be relatively easy, Boy was I wrong lol. Wanted something to be able to use fairly soon for Hawkes boes and summer camping fun, so was quicker to get this sorted than a Crown wagon or a motor rebuild on a VW, so here it is Sorry I have not taken many before and after photos of stuff, as I have been to busy doing said stuff Rust had riddled the front, most visible was through the section between the head lights. So Proceeded to pull out head lights, bumper etc. Then the true horror of what was learking was shown to me. Previous rust repairs behind the head lights, patches welded on inside and seam sealer everywhere to attempt to keep the rust water tight. So Once i pulled all the sealer out, wire brushed everything, it was clear some top patches for behind the lights was needed, bought a spot weld drill and went to town. Removed top layer, on to find second layer that is the floor section was also fucked. So double skin patches it is then. Long story short, I got it sorted after probably 20 hours of work. and its still not the prettiest, but its better than what was there by a mega shot. SO once rust was done, it went next door to my work for a wof, as I had done all the repairs at work he had seen what was there and I knew there was not going to be an issue with rust. However did have to sort out the floppy idler arm, thanks repco, new bushes were cheap as hell. Greased some suspensions and bang, wof done. So Now it has a wof, rad. But what now, If I was beaver I would just start using it and call it a day for 6 months However, Given this was beavers old van, I had to Make it my own some how. Out of storage came an old roof rack, which didnt fit, but after some welding and drilling and general fucking about, its now on the car. Fuck up my measurements royally tho. it literally sits on the roof. Oh Well. While looking at the front of the van, I felt it needed something more. I had recalled a post from Flauski on one of his bikes, where he painted his light yellow with some Metal Kast Spray. So off to Super cheap I went, purchased paint and pulled out the Center hi beam lights. Must say, came up fucking well! Then I started to hate the mirrors, Felt the distracted fron the van to much. DOnt get me wrong, huse fan of vans with west coasters etc, but these werent west coasters. So a solution was found, Cut up the passenger side one, and using the little round mirror designed to show how close the front of van is to things, mount that off the external visor, peep mirror style. Worked fucking well. Now I dont have a jungle gym of mirrors off the front of my van, and I can now check my self out and also cars next to me at the same time.' WIn. Next was the idea of lowering. Beaver gave me some blocks from his 120y days, but turns out the pin size is far to large. So I ordered some others, for a 1200, and they were wrong too. Will have another crack at lowering next week. Now I have all the measurments required it shouldnt be to bad to get something sortred. But while I had wheels off, figured now would be a good time to clean, sand and paint them Gun metal, in prep for some chrome dress rungs and chrome wheel nuts, followed by some white walling on the tires. SO that was part of yesterdays fun Speaking of Yesterday, HUGE thanks to Beaver and Goat for coming around and Me managing to rope them into attempting to wire up the factory Voodoo that was the radio. That didnt go so well, but atleast beaver was there to tell us what wires he had cut here and done there etc. So While they did that, I made a mount for the CB Aerial, which bolted to where the passenger side mirror went. Worked a treat, I had bought a 530xl which came with everything during the week, due to there side it was near perfect for Dash mounting, and thanks to the boys its now sitting in there, Just need a Tape deck to install and I can re assemble the dash. Um, I think thats about it for now. Will leave you with these pictures to Mull Over. And How its currently looking ZANG
