Yeah I hauled all 27th out to workshop cod no space here. I'll get in touch and suss a time to come round and test them/the tapes

I'll even bring a Bic biro to wind the inevitable birdsnest

Chur, looking forward to it.

Speaking of cassette tapes, I wonder when CD players will become fashionable in the same "retro" manner... I still wouldn't mind one of these, but the pricing is truly horrific when they do appear for sale.

^ No idea... but I sure ain't complaining that we didn't have to get into a bidding war with him.

Double cassette of Gerry Rafferty too (red tapes)

It better have Baker Street!

Here's a CDX-P1 for sale on eBay, if anyone's got a spare US$600 lying around.

Hey Ed, my Ts-x44s arrived but sadly the foams rotted away, not exactly surprising though.

so i'm looking at getting them fixed, i've emailed retrotronics but i was also wondering what my other options are, i'm happy just replacing the foam myself but i don't know if you can buy square foam rings?

Thanks

Sweet score :D

Try Axent Audio in New Lynn. They can pretty much rebuild most old speakers from scratch, and may know of a supplier of square drivers/foam.

Retro audio aficionados take note, this is how much a busted Lonesome Car-boy CDX-1 (the first Pioneer CD player) sold for in Japan the other day.

They sure are cool though.

If anyone's after Centrate gear, it has also been popping up in spades lately.

Does anyone on here have any sweet speakers they wanna sell? Want something to chuck in the back of the ke70 and quite like the pioneer ts-x series ones and also same era alpine and hitachi 2/3 way speakers. Not fussy at all just dont want to put some gay 6x9 boxes in or cut holes in the door cards. Have had no luck finding anything on trademe and thought i'd ask here/maybe make a wtb thread before buying some from japan.

Shit good tread.

I remember looking at these models in the early 80s at Eastern HiFi and Paul Moneys, then getting my cousin to bring them in duty free from Oz.

Then recording the record player or radio for mix tapes

them were the days

You're in luck, there is a pair of TS-X11s currently for sale locally. Someone better bid, otherwise I will.

They're some of the best sounding shelf speakers you can buy (and heavy to boot). I'm still very impressed with mine, as mentioned on page 1 :P
