mad_max
Ive got a gtir that ive just bought and it has no room for a spare tyre. not sure where it originally went. If it strapped one down in the boot (where it would have gone) will it pass a wof? There i'snt any bolt holes or slots for a spare or anything. Also is the inside rear view mirror necessary for a Wof? Cheers
Beaver
You dont need a spare tire for wof Not sure on the rear view mirror but I imagine it is required.
mad_max
Oh, is it just if you have a spare tyre it has to be secured properly? because i had a mate who just failed wof because the tyre wasnt bolted down properly.
Beaver
yep thats my understanding. I took the gf's car in a month ago with no spare tyre (as it was on the car lol)
R100
I failed a wof a couple of times for not having a spare tire. I guess its up to the decression of the WOF issuer.
slacker.cam
I've always been told that it's not mandatory to have a spare but if you do have one it must be securely held in place. You definitely need the inside rear view mirror. If you have any doubts the best bet is probably to call your WOF place in advance and check. Testament
+1 spare not mandatory - I would figure if you get a flat and have to pull over then its your problem if your stuck, so long as your not parked somewhere causing a hazard. If you have one it needs to be secured and be legal.
mad_max
Yea thats what i would think. Its hardly dangerous. Thats good to know thanks as I had no idea how I was going to put one in there
Shaz
I just checked with my workmates (All 3 are WOF guys) and this is right. You don't have to have one but if you do, it must be secure.
Brock-Lee
Also you dont need a rear vision mirror if the car was manufactured/registered before a certain date and you have a drivers side external mirror. I cant remember the date but I asked my Wof guy and he read that from his Wof rules folder.
kicker
A guy tried to fail me for having a spare wheel in the boot until I showed him that it was just cargo and the actual spare wheel was safely secured underneath He was then
unhuman
+1 spare not mandatory - I would figure if you get a flat and have to pull over then its your problem if your stuck, so long as your not parked somewhere causing a hazard. If you have one it needs to be secured and be legal. Also technically as soon as you got a flat and put the spare on you would no longer have a spare, thus you'd be deemed not up to WOF standard and be liable for a green sticker. fuel
ironically even if you don't have a spare your car MUST have sufficient tools and a jack to remove a flat tyre. I have known cops to fine people for that exact clause.

Seedy Al
My understanding for rear view Mirror Is All you need are two rear Facing mirrors for a wof. Whether tha be in side or out. So if you have two door mirrors and no inside rear view mirror you should pass.
RUNAMUCK
Yeah I've heard of cunts getting rolled fro not having a jack. I dunno bout the two mirror thing. I've passed wofs with only the internal rear view mirror.
Bling
I had to laugh when mrs failed for spare not secure. I took it back with no spare and when they checked it was secure I 'd. Pass.
