Dude that thing is sweet, do it up be easy as

just powerwash and fit a tang and do a skid as said earlier

the rest of you need to harden up, everything is fixable and it actually looks quite solid

If it was a rx2 the'd be no question of saving it

Reg on hold too is sweet plus cert for Mazda, fit dohc turb

Vauxhall club has heaps of spares including new guards last time I checked

My face lit up when I saw it.

For the love of God, don't wash it.

Just check bottom of doors/floor/arches for rust.

Oh, and keen for pix of actual car, not auction.

EDIT: Had to chop out most of what I said due to it being irrelevant because I didn't read your post properly.

the tree fell on it

Shit if it runs i'd just roll as is, do a skid.

Done,

And then took it all apart, no rust inside and the rust under the wheel wells was just on the metal mud guard thingy which pulled out

atm I'm going to wire it up to push start ignition and a big red button soon as i find one. All locks and key ports are rusted. And my gf has decided to make me a new interior. photos tommorow

Thanks for the inspiration Borgweiser and leigh

^ Get some CRC Pentration oil, spray liberally for a couple of times for a few days, and will fix you locks pretty smart - no more problems locking/unlocking..

just to remind all you escort numptys out there, COIL spring x4 - no leafs here..

On that note, makita oneways are in order..

Had a mate helping me the other day he decided he knew how to use a dolly and hammer and proceeded to murder my bonnet along with denting the shit out of the only fine door and smashing the dash and steering wheel cover all during the time it took for me to get a drink.

So I'm trying to find out about Fiberglassing do any of you guys know a fiber glassing place or online tutorial, i know about making a mold and then resining up the matts but can't seem to google anywhere in christchurch that sells matts and resin and I need to know what material to use to make a mold a plaster mold would be great as i could just Chisel my panels dents out of a mold of my existing panels.

I went to Rj pattersons to see about the price of the little fiberglass repair kits $49.00 exc gst and the guy even told me that was the old price and i was getting a bargain as they hadn't changed the prices and then went to nuplex today and its actually half the price i paid. like $29.00 and the fiberglass matts are only like $7.50 per square meter the little packets at like repco and stuff are like $30 for a 10cm sqaure. Just thought i'd say that as im jew as and love bargains.

Nah I'm full fail spec on this one. But I'm having fun, it's not looking too good at this point i was going to put some during photos up but might wait till things start looking a little um.... a little less shit. Yeah probably should have tried a couple of small things for practice. I dunno maybe they will look good if i spray them with stone chip guard or something.

If any one has any better ideas for a mold let me know. It's a bit hard/time consuming to mount the polystyrene to the car and get it straight I've been thinking of welding some tig wire on and just bending it to shape and then chicken wiring over that and then maybe putting polystyrene under that and glassing over the top while its on the car. Or the other option is making a wooden box and making a female mold out of plaster of the old guard and then sculpting it into shape just trying to keep costs down.

Originally spot welded guards onto sills and a couple of seem welds near the windscreen.

The yellow/brown/gold one has had a tree fall on it and might have a bent chassi rail as it seems to have come off from the floor pan in one place and has rust in the rear sills only and a crack in the handbrake mounting area on the trans tunnel that has spread since i jacked up car a couple times.

The white one has rust / rust tears around rear sills and doors and surface rust over most panels. aswell as a bunch of slapped on bog and brushed on house paint on the rear, dead plates and a head sized dent at the back.

you could rivet them to hold in place, then borrow a welder and weld them up, presuming you know how to weld of course?

I wouldnt be riviting anything and be driving around thats for sure :P:lol:

White one looks better to me, I'd be fixing that up.. Need to have a look at it..

Also, if you were watching trademe lately, you would've seen a blue 2 door wagon, thats now parked at home..

Yeah man have been watching that, saw it at bunnings acted like a perv and watched it from afar.

Nah i don't know how to weld. I've completed an intro course on arc and acetylene but never touched a mig.

I've got time off work again soon so hopefully i can come up with a plan on what to do next and get one of these finished.
