  1. The Starlet just looks super hot man, people would kill for that over here
  2. Nice!! Here's some inspiration for you then: http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=81094&page=1 Or Coggers' white model: http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=readersrides&thread=35983&page=1
  3. Nice to see another Magnum, shame you're on the far side of the world! Car looks great, just needs a drop now. I did mine with AVO adjustable shocks and custom springs, pretty low now and looks much better for it. Poly bushes sound like your job too
  4. Cool Viva and a great bargain! Wish the ones here had as little rust as that!
  5. Ha! Glad you think so! It is a lovely thing if only I could get it sorted now. Some new wheels in the pipeline too
  6. Haven't updated this in a while. Got the car all buttoned up last year and drove to the Retro-rides show in England - starter was acting up for the whole trip (my legend of a girlfriend push-starting it in high heels and my 16stone sitting inside the car!) plus the car had a fuel leak at a union in the tank so we had lovely fumes for a couple hundred miles. Then when I got home the radiator started leaking in the bottom tank and the starter finally gave up the ghost so the car was off the road again awaiting cash/time/parts Then the wiring was acting the mickey and I was getting nowhere for a long time so I went back to playing with the Magnum. However, I've since fitted a new driver's window (the one that was smashed when they tried to steal it - only took 14months for the GT club to post the feckin thing!), got the starter and alternator overhauled and refitted, a couple of niggly bits finished up and got the rad fixed and finally got the car running. Kinda. The oil light must be shorting somewhere as it comes on when the ignition is on and goes off when the car is running Took it out to stretch its legs last week And it was whilst taking the above picture that the radiator shat its guts out through a different hole. Should be pulling that out on Friday morning to get it recored and then trying to trace the oil light problem - be nice if the car ran for more than a fortnight
  7. Nice going dude, good to see you're getting Hannah stuck in there as well! Had a snigger at your safety equipment using the chainsaw too!!!! Its really starting to take shape now isn't it
  8. Wheels look the part, get them on there
  9. Jesus man, you dont hang around!! This should be a brilliant build, loads of room in there for you to fit a rotary.......
  10. I much prefer the black wheels with those tyres man, much better looking than the white. The pickup is looking great in baremetal
  11. Nice going man, should look ace on those wheels!
  12. They couldn't be that expensive surely! I was gonna get them from superflex in england a few years ago but one of the guys on retro-rides can get them cheaper from some other crowd - thing is the superflex ones are actually made in Australia!!!!?!?!?!? You're closer to them than i am! Here's a link to their listing for the HC: http://www.superflex.co.uk/results.php?maker=20&man_name=GM&searchmodel=108&Search=Go I bought the full set for my GT6 a few years ago and it cost me around £350 for the lot, stupid money but it genuinely transformed the car - i'll dig around to see if i have any of the wrappers left to find an address for the Australian company
  13. Nice going on getting the magnum bits man, they should clean up nicely. Polybush them when you have them off to save yourself the hassle too
  14. You're doing rightly there man, practice makes the difference. The round dial dash makes a big difference over the horizontal one - i've actually just removed my one (same as your new one) and i'm swapping it over for a Firenza 7 dial one. How does the Magnum front end look? Its a lot better than the square lamps im sure
  15. Aha! A discussion thread! I've found in the past when i've painted stuff that if i get a rough surface i can usually coloursand/polish it up pretty good. try rubbing down a bit between coats and then put a couple of steady clearcoats on the top and cut them back with fine grade sandpaper then buff out. Any good to you? This worked very well with the metalflake i put on my daily, its was very bumpy with the flakes so i put loads of clear on and cut it back to smooth - i even polished it by hand and it still came out good Any word on your bits yet?
  16. I know, i think they really suit it. I have to get back to polishing them though - they're pretty badly marked and its taking an age to do - polishing wheels is an absolute Mojo killer Black is the way to go! I've now got a set of twin 40's to go on it but im too cheap to pay what i think is an extortionate rate for what is basically two plates and 4 tubes (manifold!!) so i'll be making one up when i get the GT back on the road. Hoping to get some more work done on the Magnum in the near future - got a new workshop so its easierr to work on, lots of reassembly to be done!
  17. That is a severly cool Celica! It really does look like a JADA model car!
  18. Just do it! You can still get fibreglass replacement panels in england i know - not sure how much shipping would be though. Here's my Magnum: Same bits as the viva and same front sheetmetal as the Firenza also
  19. Here's a little inspiration for you buddy (same metro as in above pic): http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=35846&page=1
  20. Cool van buddy, the rover should be a right laugh in there. Lovin the wheels too, you gotta put them on there - hinge the side door and take off the sliders
  21. Cool Z buddy, defo keep the long nose. Looks so much better with the shop-drop, just do it - you'll get a new sump from somewhere
  22. That'll look great with the new front end - quad lamps for the win! +1 on the lamp refurb explanation please. And the Speedo refurb
  23. Dont just go white on the roof of the wagon man, hit it with some silver 'flake - it'd contrast well to the green i think
  24. I was born with gills Chicks love it though
  25. Thanks man, i do love your mazda and to think it survived in weather similar to mine! As bad as the weather is in england its worse here - every day is like waking up in a Charles Dickens novel. In fairness mine hasnt been to bad for rust - it spent the majority of its life in the middle east and then in dry storage in England so its only now getting to grips with constant rain and persistent greyness!
