cletus 27,726 Report post Posted September 13 Kia ora te spanners Your waka will need to be looked at by a certifier , plate removed, sent back to LVVTA who then update landata so it doesnt say its modified any more. Chur Bleh 6

It's just hardware store pop rivets holding it on, isn't it? Most importantly, will anyone ever know and will I get hassles from wof inspectors

oldrx 484 Report post Posted September 15 Do you need to have reverse lights hooked up for cert/wof? (I did search this thread and the LVV documents - couldnt find anything specific either way. I did 'see Cletus mention you don't legally need reverse gear (you probably should!?) but if do have the gear and not the corresponding illumination - fail or all good?) Like a spare wheel, if it's there, it has to be bolted down.

kws 2,914 Report post Posted September 15 Interesting, it used to be that if it were there, it had to work (wife got failed on it years ago) but obviously changed now.

Ashkellybarr 734 Report post Posted September 15 Odometer question: i understand you need an odometer, but wonder what the rules are? ive had a car where it broke, had to change the cluster and get a mechanic to write out a thing for it. if I was to use a motor cycle one what would I need to do? changing gearbox Witch means changing from mech cable to electronic. Was thinking of feeding it to the link ecu then feeding a motorcycle cluster from the ecu using pwm outputs. And set it up on the bench to get it to read the same as the factory one? https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/rFngrF84
tortron 38,419 Report post Posted September 15 You don't need an odometer unless you pay road user charges. 2

So the only reason I had to change the cluster in the other cars was the speedo. The letter from the mechanic was just to explain why the od reading is way off???
