Mr Vapour
I need to do the same for the bmw. What are you using for the channel ?
Yowzer
There's some outfit doing weld-on prefab units for the BMW's, I was looking at getting it and making it fit, but I think I'll just make something from scratch. Dunno what I'm gonna use yet.

Mr Vapour
There are lots of different companies. From my reading they need to be machined not folded. The folded ones flex and slip. Have a look at the Ireland engineering ones they have groves in them to lock in place.
SOHC
For a Falcon ute that needs re compliance would small rust holes in the bottom of the front guards and behind the rear wheels matter?

Will depend on the inspector a bit but if it just has small holes in the exterior panels, probably not

MaxPower
had a look and they do have pressed in pin\stub, they are from 'x2 industries' hopefully they have a good name for themselves. link; http://www.x2industries.com/dodge-1979-2006-dodge-d50-mighty-max-drop-spindles-p-3312.html#.WYABxGPwzsl thanks for the advice. chasinthemirage
Is there a minimum requirement for clearance between the inside of a wheel rim and the brake calipers? Tried the stock wheels on the VL tonight and there's only a mm or two between them. Slightly concerned the Royale wheels may be a different design internally to the Calais wheels which clear 290mm brakes

IIRC I tickled the corner edge of the caliper with a grinder so they wouldn't rub.
chasinthemirage
@Nominal sweet thank you. I'll try them with new pads and see how close they are, I think they'll move away from the wheels as the pads wear so I might be ok.
cletus
There isn't a minimum amount of clearance, just can't ever touch. Surprising sometimes how much flex/ movement / growth there is under hard use on some vehicles. I did a cortina once that had enough disc- caliper clearance when cold but after a few hard stops the brake disc grew enough to rub the inside of the caliper

Carsnz123
@cletus my man. I'm taking my dads MS112 for a cert for the engine swap. 5m been swapped for 7m so ~30% more power and +200cc. Other than that it's stock. It's getting driveshaft hoops and a shroud for the fan tomorrow. Anything else I should look at?
cletus
If it's standard then should be pretty straight forward You could try doing the brake test and see how that goes before you take it for cert- 3x 100 to 0 stops, 4.4 sec max,- in a total of 2 minutes. I wouldn't think it needs driveshaft loops either if it's just a larger engine that isn't turbo or supercharged http://lvvta.org.nz/documents/infosheets/LVVTA_Info_07-2016_Drive-shaft_Safety-loop_Requirements.pdf
