tortron
I am fortunate for several reasons 1. I have free, endless access to coffee 2. The man at the steel shop immediately felt sorry for me when hearing what I was building and threw in several extra meters of steel 3. I have a half decent minor to take measurements from

Ghostchips
Would you do a van chassis for money? just fishing around for options.
tortron
I don't know much about the commercial chassis's I'm afraid Rus. After this I will be fully set up to replace sedan chassis legs, fairly quickly. So tell your friends
kyteler
It probably is good to keep that information secret so there's less people capable of keeping these things on the road. The greater good. Keep calm and minor repairs. 1
Alfashark
How wide is the useable area of the engine bay in one of these?
tortron
Designed for a boxer 4 so wide and short 65 cm between the lever arm bodies About 52 cm from crossmember to radiator panel About 41cm between the chassis rails More or less as tall as you like. Generally you have to cut out the crossmember to fit anything decent. Also the steering rack is directly below that. So that's in the way of most gearbox bell housings. Tube front ends seem common enough
Nominal
Not much cutting to get this in - just a RHS front crossmember under the radiator.
ajg193
You should buy the plate UNRLBL for this (still available) 1

Nominal
Lol, it would take an informed observer to notice that.

Nominal
My great-uncle bought it like that from the dealer mayte. Must have been short of the right engine at the factory and grabbed another one that was lying around.
tortron
Its just had an oil filter relocation kit put on it The real question is why bother changing the number. They get removed when you skim the head anyway
igor
That's a point. Not sure that any of the seven BMC cars I've owned over the years still had engine numbers.
Nominal
Both the 1098 in mine, and the spare I have, are still sporting their 10MA tags.
tortron
I'll probably remove it and restamp with an appropriate/funny one
