Been planning some things for this, I am going to replace the big alloy pulley for the belt clutch as it not consentric anymore and I want to replace the sprockets, I am hoping they are just unerversual indrustial parts like everything elce, I am going to fit a pulley onto the end of the gearbox input sprocket to drive my DC arc welder witch can mount under the seat suport and where the rear PTO use to be I will make a box to mount the controls and power suply, I think this would be very handy, I just hope I can get enouth RPM from that shafts

This pulley will bolt on to the engines flywheel with 4 bolts,, it was a double pulley but I cut it down, its some kind of cast iron its just like steal but it wont gas cut, just kinda goes blobby, so I have to drill the shit out of it, I will leave 4 tabs and the rest of the center will be gone. I need the welder up and running by next week.

It works, its putting out 240 volts and the arc welder is also working, man dose it load the engine up, it needs to be at 3/4 throttle or it just bogs down when I start welding, the flywheel pulley is heaver than I wanted but I couldn't find the proper factory pulley, I will make a mesh grill for the front one day, DC arc welding is a little different, you can't weld into corners as well because of arc blow but there is less spatter, the arc makes a high pitched screaming noise instead of the buzzing AC makes.

I had a similar alternator setup on my triumph which i used for tig, i also hooked it up to a dodgy hydrogen cell and used it for brazing rather inefficient but it worked well.

Cool project needs a PTO Driven wood lathe.

I fitted a 4" pulley as the welder didn't need to spin that fast, it was doing about 12,000 RPM when the engine was doing 3500 RPM and the belt would slip, the welder dose about 7800 RPM now, if you go past 16,000 RPM they will fail.

Got a bit of perforated steel for a grill from a fire screen, I did a welding job today and did alot of welding and after burning 2.3mm rods and checking how hot the alternator was getting it was hardly warm.

Also the hour meter on the tractor started working, I took the power feed for the welders armature off the hour meter + witch it seemed to like.

The tractor got some hard use this afternoon and i can see oil is blowing through the fins on the PTO side, I think the block has given out fuck it. If I am lucky it would just be the head gasket but its unlikely. 

 

Actuality this whole pile of crap can go fuck it self.
