Rookie
You guys have to remember he is trying to keep high compression junk yard motors together, and he is American so has to deal with shitty fuel.
kpr
its all in the timing. people worry too much about fuel. first and biggest killer of engines is incorrect ignition timing. lots of fuel cant fix it
Rookie
You are right, they lean on them pretty hard though so in my mind I don't really mind that it is a bit rich.
kpr
yeh, tbh there isn't heaps of power to be had leaning it out from 11afr. but dipping down into the 10's, usually makes a good power loss. in saying different engines will make best power at different afr, so bit of a generalization. running 11 will usually just cost you more in gas
Testament
Also remember they are mostly tuning for peak power/ full throttle dragstrip/burnout stz. and they probably usually have more midrange than they know what to do with so giving up a bit there is not noticed really. And gas consumption under boost? who cares about that!

Rookie
OK guys a couple of questions, 1. how to you set up TPS on slide throttles? I am picturing a rack and pinion setup but that seems like a lot of fucking around. 2. Is there any reason why I can't inject before the throttle? Spencer
Never used slide throttles but they are gay. You can inject before the throttle but you will probably have issues tuning idle and partial throttle. Race cars classes that only allow one injector per cylinder run the injector at the top on the trumpet, but they run wayyy flasher injectors and way higher pressures than us. Hence why most people run two injectors and stage them.
Spencer
Depends how high up the intake too. 100% on a injector at the top of the trumpet can cause lots of fuel stand off/fogging and go bang. Needs to be timed right to not do this which again you need lush injectors and ecu and lots of dyno time to sort.
vivaspeed
You don't necessarily need to run TPS on an aftermarket computer.
Spencer
Yea but individual throttles without one is no good.
Rookie
Sweet, well basically i wanted to give some a go for a while now and it seems like a good opportunity. Mostly I just want the injector infront of the throttle so I don't have to weld bungs to the gay cast al manifold. I was more talking spraying right onto the back of the throttle not at the start of the trumpet.
Rookie
Also I thought about the TPS and I could make a little arm that connect to the slide and do it that way.
Spencer
Slides are dumb man, makes your partial throttle gay for 0.01 more hp at WOT.
Rookie
Are you sure? MX bikes use slides and they don't suck, not to mention a butterfly is hardly a linear opening... But mostly they look badass and there aren't any good looking throttles that aren't $11ty billion. Also this is for a race car.
vivaspeed
Yea but individual throttles without one is no good. I meant if you're running aftermarket computer you can run without using TPS as an input - just run on MAP with a common collector for the 4 throttles - like some people do with 20 valve throttles.
