pusherman
ive made up some adjustable legs for the esky using the rally design kit (could possibly be a copy) stil just you standard weld on adjustable kit. my problem is i wonder how people get it so low im going for the true oldschool.co.nz dumped look. but if i have the springs captive im higger than amy winehouse. so ive wound them almost all the way down and im getting closer to being stupidly undriveable low as the wife calls it. but how will this go with the cert man as soon as he puts a jack under it im uncaptive. all i can figure is take another 70-90mm off the shock and run around with sweet fa suspension travel. but then do i run into trouble with the sway bar. please help praise the lowered

QCADTA
get a different length spring or just use keeper springs.
Gaz
Keeper springs + differant shocks.. Cert man will likely fail you if wheels cant turn full lock without scraping too. Gaz
Valiant
I used AE80 shocks in mine it makes the whole strut about 80 mm shorter per side. It's not a straight swap either. Be carefull your ball joints and tierods don't start to bind though.
fulloc
softer spring maybe?

pusherman
so my current set up wound down full low with keeper springs would do the trick?
Brock-Lee
It depends ho uncaptive it is, your best bet is still shorten the strut tube so as to keep some travel in the setup.
pusherman
it looks to be aout 70mm from touching if ive got it wound all the way. main reson i dont wana start pulling it apart and chopping it up again is time got to get it backon road
Truenotch
And how far down is your shock at full slam while on the ground? Put an o'ring around the shaft to see how far it's travelling. The best way is to use a shock with a shorter body, which means finding the right shock, then cutting and re-welding the strut etc. It's the propper way to go though. Sorensin
keen on doing this to my esky, have read the tec articale and im def gonna cut down my struts. Would like to know where you purchased the rally kit from and how much it was or where a good place to buy a kit from is. G/L sorting yours. I'd start again, otherwise it'll always be half pie. mikuni
im getting closer to being stupidly undriveable low as the wife calls it. Firstly, I like where you're going with this. Good work. Secondly, I think everyones over-reacting. Keeper springs are very common, and unless you have issues with the shock travel (ie bottoming out before or when it gets to the bumpstop) I wouldn't worry about the added cost and time of shortening them. Keeper springs They are just a very low rate spring that keeps the load bearing spring captive and just compresses on itself under load. Typing keeper spring into a local google search or onto trademe should net you some suppliers for these, and a whole set should be attainable for around the $100 mark I would think. note: you will also need the alloy locator ring that goes between them to make sure the springs stay central on eachother. You could just rely on the sleve to do this, but not really ideal.
QCADTA
keeper is the small helper at the bottom. just make sure the shocks you get are suited to the spring rate as well. edit:beaten to it
