cute wee gem
How does that description relate to "when stopping" ? Generally you'd put your foot on the clutch when you come to a stop so that the car doesn't stall, which means the throw out bearing has load on it, making the noise?
Simon
Yeah but "the noise" should also occur every other time when the clutch is disengaged not just while stopping. Anyone that knows what a thrust bearing is should be able to provide a more in depth diagnosis. We should probably just help him lol. If the cars in neutral with the motor running and you press the clutch does it make the same noise?
CaMpylobacter
remember when sprak had 'dtm style' tips on his e28. used to be able to get 4 or 5 litres of water down each one when he was inside the bp payig for his gas so lol.
karmagedon
It's allright Simon, I know its the thrust / pinion bearing. But thanks for offering to help. I havn't really noticed it when changing gears while moving, hence I stated while stopping. Although today I think I might have heard it once. It's also not playing up all the time while the clutch is engaged. It started happening yesterday, so could still only be mild wear?? Although when bearing dry out I don't see how they can be more dried out one day than the next?? Anyway.
mikuni
I think a sure way to tell if its thrust bearing is to depress the clutch while stationary and see if it makes an audible change to the engine note.
karmagedon
So I found out today that you can get 16" brakes for these. What would you possibly need that for short of a 2000hp jet engine?? Also went to change the thrust bearing, couldn't get the gearbox nuts up the top loose, so decided screw it for now, I havn't heard the noise in about a week,
karmagedon
Finally sorted out my exhaust, used the factory front piece and then welded that onto my pipe. Now I can atleast tighten the nuts onto the flange

karmagedon
Saw this sunday afternoon when i was half cut - needs more low IMO agreeed, but don't know how to with these struts without changing spring pressure
lowlancer
??? If you're going lower, your spring rate will change by necessity. Do a bit of research on adjustable coilover struts. Even King Springs will have a different spring rate to stock.
UTERUS
If my memory is right, it has adjustable teins in it. It should be able to go a bit lower with them wound down, then again it might still be jacked because of the 17's
karmagedon
True elliot, I haven't done much research on the theory behind coilovers. Suppose you don't know what you need to learn until you find out you need to learn it. Will do some reading. Yea it has Gaz adjustable suspenion in it. And true again about it being jacked up because of the 17's. ( Hence why I changed the thread tittle to 4WD spec when I put them on ). Truenotch
Just jack it up and take the perch's down by 30mm to start with - see how low it makes it and how captive your springs are afterwards then go from there. 30mm won't add too much droop to your shocks. If you want to go super low you'll probably need keeper springs.
SHGWAG
Just take the springs out & roll like a playaa Got anything in mind engine wise for this thing? BPT conversion?
karmagedon
No engine conversion planned. Was thinking CA for a while but don't think the work involved will be worth it. Could get more go fast bits for same price.
nothingsfree
Add 13bt + more low = Funnnn!
