Apparently it's not good for the bores as the fuel washes the oil off them. I talked to a mate, whos a sparky, and he reckons just to run a second coil, with a switch on it, and tune the carb a bit rich, so when you flick on the second coil, it should light up the unburnt mix in the exhaust, and if needs be, just set it up some how that it cuts spark to the motor for a few secs, so you get plenty on unburnt mix flowing out the pipes.
